I can play Metallica's Fade To Black and For Whom The Bell Tolls, plus parts of Ride The Lightning, Creeping Death, Battery, Master Of Puppets and a couple songs from Kill 'Em All plus part of Slayer's Raining Blood, Megadeth's Hangar 18 and Holy Wars...The Punishment Due plus part of Symphony Of Destruction, can also play Die - Dream Evil, Black Sabbath - Neon Knights, Iced Earth - Iced Earth, Black Sabbath - Paranoid, Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast, Judas Priest - Breaking The Law, Led Zepplin - Stairway To Heaven, and a couple of AC/DC tracks, plus some other stuff I didn't choose to learn, I'd like to learn some Anathema and My Dying Bride tracks but as my guitar teacher dislikes metal that would probably be pushing it a little too far (vocals)
Thrash is correct. They say when choosing a guitar teacher you should choose someone who likes similar music as you. This hard for people like us on the fringes listening to bands that 99.9 percent of regular people have never heard of. But yeah, i can play the first two riffs from master of puppets very well. Breaking the law was one of the first riffs I learned. Symphony of destruction is a cool easy riff. I can play most black sabbath songs minus most of the solos. Hanger 18 I can play the main riff. Some pink Floyd- wish you were here. The comfortably numb solos as well. A lot of bush songs even though I haven't listened to a bush song in about 8 years. Nirvana, AiC, fly away by Lenny shithead kravits. I learned that last one simply to try and get better at bar chords and it worked. I can play mazzy stars fade into you. Lightning crashes by live, goddamn I hate that song but really good for learning bar chord changes. I can play a lot of shit actually now that I think about it. I'm no where near being "good" but I'm happy with my progress considering I've only played for a little less than a year and I never had a lesson.
