I like how if it was a westerner charged with tearing up a Koran COTB and Karmo would be all 'fuck no!'.
And like LOTN is saying, it's not a specific rule against destroying Bibles, but offending Catholics, some minor law that has been trumped up by a right-wing Christian politician if I'm informed correctly. Something plenty of Metal bands could fall foul of, including bands that you're actually a fan of. All very well lolling because he wears a costume, ffs, what has that to do with anything?
Still, surprised this isn't bigger news. The frontman of an extreme metal band facing prison time, not for burning churchiz or assault and threatening to drink blood, but for... offending Catholics. I ask you, where would underground metal be if it wasn't allowed a l'il bit of christhatred? You'd all be listening to disco, that's where it'd be. Perhaps.
Err, actually you're wrong. If a westerner was caught tearing up a Koran in a country where it was illegal to do so, I would hold the same opinion.
Do I agree with the laws? Not really, but anybody stupid enough to break them and get caught has no room to complain.
In some countries, holocaust denial is illegal... in America they are considering the hanging of a noose in public a "hate crime"... which is left-wing absurdity at it's worst. But if one is dumb enough to publicly break those laws, they should pay the price.
This whole "anti-Christian, uber-blasphemous, trying oh-so-hard-to-be-evil christ-slaughtering-nun-raping-blood-drinking schtick" is not only worn threadbare, but is something I'd expect from a mentally stunted juvenile. It was a novelty a long long time ago, but now it's just embarassing and, perhaps worse, boring. Fuck him, maybe his facing jail time will force him to grow up a little, though I doubt it.
Oh and one other thing: I am not a "fan" of any band; I enjoy the music certain bands produce, and some admittedly much more than others, but that's where it begins and ends. I have no interest in their personal lives, philosophy regarding life and death, or political views and couldn't care less if I ever got to meet any of them. Other than their CD's, I don't buy merchandise.
And if anyone in any particular band that I so happen to listen to acts like a twat, and gets himself thrown in jail because of it, my opinion remains the same.
