No disrespect but, lyrics don't have to be christian or jewish or whatever faith you're into to be meaningful. There are plenty of other subjects worthy of our attention. For me religion is not one of them.
I don't mind bands like Live who definitely have a spiritual side to many of their songs, but the main difference is they don't limit themselves to that. I don't like the idea of a christian labeled band as it automatically limits itself, tends to be outright preachy and usually has a fanbase of religious fanatics who venerates the band mostly because they are of "X" faith.
Sorry if my personal thoughts on this subject offends you, it's not what i'm trying to do at all, My point is that labelling bands by religion
is simply ridiculous and a mere way of promoting it to religious fanatics.
just to be clear, I consider a religious fanatic a person who is extremely religious and will listen/watch/read things only labelled after their religion. This people usually never questions their faith and gobbles everything without using any judgement.
When did anybody mention that anything that does not have Christian themed lyrics makes them less meaningful? By saying that I could make the judgment that you are close minded and anything Christian you shut the door on.
I'm not sure if I qualify as a 'religious fanatic,' but I hate most Christian music. So when there is quality work being produced, I jump on it. Yes it has more value because they happen to be Christian or sing about Christian themes, but that is not my primary focus.
Also, if Necrodude feels the same way as me and wants music that has Christian lyrics, what should he have titled this thread in order to please your opinions? 'Metal with Christian lyrics or bands with Christian members no offense to other music that is non-Christian'?
And instead of generalizations on an entire religious group, maybe you should explore Christianity more. I have many Christian friends, and none of them meet your description of 'religious fanatics'.
