Maybe he just meant that they suck as in 'they sound terrible and can't play their instruments'? Venom have a place in Metal history just as St Anger does, but that doesn't mean you have to listen to them when better stuff's around. Mixing punk, NWOBHM and satanica was all they did, no? You could make an argument that Discharge were more of an influence although HNSNSN was a few years after Welcome To Hell... the Why EP was around that time, however.
And you don't like Absu?

Why?
Discharge sounds terrible and can't really play their instruments, either, but they fucking rule; The Stones are horrible musicians, but the chemistry they have makes it all work, and saying the Stones "suck" because you don't like them is equally lame... like I said it really is annoying when some kid that has probably been listening to metal for a couple of years, tops, has the gall to proclaim one the most important Metal bands ever to "suck". And no, Discharge were not more of an influence. Discharge was possibly an influence, but not more so.
Venom maybe could not play their instruments very well, but who is some jack off on the internet that nobody has ever heard of and that nobody ever will, to say they "suck"?
It was not that they combined those elements, it was the attitude and the fact that they didn't give a fuck that they couldn't play their instruments... actually thats not even accurate: Only Abbadon was incompetent. Cronos was not all that bad a bassist and Mantas was a very decent guitarist, again neither were virtuosi, but they managed alright. But, yeah Abbadon waspretty inept on the skins, I'll admit.
As for Absu; they are boring half assed thrash and boring half assed (quasi) black metal with a stupid name; if you are gonna delve into The Necronomicon for a namesake, there are about a hundred better choices inside that book.
