Aight, I'm going to be one of those annoying bastard children right now and ask for recommendations! I've been pretty bad with keeping up with music this year, and since most of you are pretty and have good taste, I thought this would be the place to go. So far I've heard:

Heaven and Hell- The Devil You Know
Kreator- Hordes of Chaos
Artillery- When Death Comes
Slough Feg- Ape Uprising

And I'm planning to check out:

Saxon- Into the Labyrinth
Stratovarius- Polaris
Dream Theater- Black Clouds and Silver Lining

So, anything else that's really good from the traditional/power/thrash genres? The new Voivod doesn't sound like my cup of tea, from reading the review, and I haven't really enjoyed Voivod since the early days. Is Destroyer 666's new one thrashy enough that I might enjoy it, or does it veer heavily towards death and black? As for the new Dark Moor, I've always found them a bit overdramatic and too cheesy even for power metal, but Marty in his review compares the new album to The Black Halo, one of my favourites; do you folks think I'd enjoy it if I only liked a few songs off The Gates of Oblivion?

And yep, any other reccs would be appreciated. Peace out, yeh.

You might like the new Candlemass or Spiritus Mortis.

I listened to the new November's Doom last night. That's one strong doom/death metal release. I will admit that I am very partial to ND but regardless it's a good album. It will rank high for me this year. :dio:

Yeah, I guess it is. It also has some surprising doom leanings on some songs. But whatever styleshift they pull throught this album, be it thrash, death, black, doom or heavy metal, it's done in outstanding manner. You cannot possibly regret buying it.

Thanks for the reccs, people! It's definitely about time I checked out Candlemass and , and I'll pick up the new Destroyer 666 the next time I'm out. And I'll slowly make my way through metal_xxx's list- right now, I'm thinking of checking out Mastercastle and Endyium first. Cheers, boys.

If you do dig the D666, give Razor of Occam a go as well. It's a pretty similar record in sound (it has two D666 members in it), and is also awesome. We have been blessed for warlike blackened thrash this year.

Destroyer666
Candlemass
Vomitory
are my favourites so far.

Disappointed by Hellsaw. New Glorior Belli was ok. Want to hear the new Victimizer, Witchtrap split, the new Destruktor and curious about the new Havohej.

I really dug that Hellsaw, although it was the first album of theirs I'd heard. You'd say it was a let-down compared to their other two?
