I don't know if that was a joke, or you being serious. But it sure was funny.

I have to put DsO - Chaining the Katechon somewhere so I put it in my bm list. It's not an album but that doesn't matter right? It is part of a split album after all.

jep, move venom. Let cof stay.
I really can't see how anyone could compare CoF to Krallice, DsO, Xasthur, Leviathan or Nachtmystium?

Do you mean this band: www.myspace.com/nachtmystium ? And this is for you Black Metal and COF not? I'm hearing in Nachtmystium more other musical styles than in Godspeed on the devil's thunder. Rock, Punk, Thrash... it's more or less as "true" as COF on Godspeed are...

And think about this quote:
The_Voice wrote:
[...]bands can sound different even if they play the same genre, you know why? because theyre different bands, thats no reason to start giving genres to every band out there that sounds different or you will end up with a lot of meaningless and useless labels dont you think?

And if I can remember correctly, someone during the infamous COF discussion said that Venom were Black Metal, because they are raw and simple or something like this.

If I I would take away all Bands that are not true enough, there would only be Satyricon left - and for some, even they are not more Black Metal... :lame:

PS.: E.G. Aura Noir is for me Old School Black Metal.

Ok, you guys won. I will remove everything from the Black Metal vote, that's not true norwegian Black Metal. And don't cry about the result.

this is a good question. its only a 22min ep so I'm not sure if it qualifies for the list. If so it would easily be my number 1 bm for this year, simply unbelievable.

Yeah, new Nachtymystium is probably a bad example but albums like Demise and their debut were definitely straight BM.

Venom isn't black metal. They influenced black metal and extreme metal as a whole though. Aura Noir is blackened thrash and leans more towards the thrash.

DsO's is just an EP. I don't see why it can't go here.

Old School Black Metal IS old school thrash/heavy metal with satanic lyrics/content.

And I never would put Aura Noir on the same page as Metallica or Megadeth. But the same goes for early Sodom, Venom, Hellhammer, Bathory and very early Slayer. Everything that fit's on this sampler: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenriz_Pre ... lack_Metal

And it's not avant garde or something strange. If you would listen to it, you would recognize, that Scream Aim Fire is 80% Bay Area Thrash Metal.

80%?! Let's put Metalcore in with 'other', people.

I would group them with Shadows Fall. Not as intense and more melodic. Like a balance between Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Avenged Sevenfold and All That Remains. The song writing is better than trivium. There is alot of thrash and eighties riffs and solos mixed with melodic metalcore verses and choruses. I just stick BFMV with the rest of the NWOAHM bands.

Yeah, in the "other" section.

Technically I don't think it should be included, but since practically everyone has voted for it, and since it would cause massive drama levels, who cares  Also it's fucking quality and deserves awards.
