24's awesome if you're new to it, but in comparison to, say, The Shield, it's pretty darn lame.
Thank you for common sense Zad. I'm not expecting to get The Shield part 2, but I need a new show to watch. Something that somewhat lives up to The Shield. 24 is shite. FOX garbage, for those of you who like/liked 24 and have never seen The Shield do yourselves a favour and watch it.
Now if anybody can recommend a show worth watching that somewhat resembles the true grittiness and action/drama that The Shield delivers, i'd be quite happy.
So far i'm leaning to The Wire. Too bad it's on it's last season.
Meh, I liked The Shield, but it was never THAT good, and I'm not sure why you're comparing it to 24, other than the fact that they're both equally lame and silly at times. Anyway, having seen season one of The Wire, I'd say The Shield is a children's show compared to it. The Wire is what I'd expect a realistic portrayal of crime on the streets to be, and it's better in all aspects, particularly in the dialogue.
Disagree. All of these sorts of shows have a certain number of HOLY SHIT moments that make them awesome. 24 was lucky if there were a couple a season. The Shield manages it a couple of times an
episode. Fine, it's not 100% realistic, but that's not what I want. The moments in season 5 when SPOILER
Forest Whitaker realises that Vic & co screwed him over the deal with the Russians and knew that he was bugging them.
OR
Forest Whitaker realises that he was exposing his emotional side on camera and arrests Lem
You ask me, The Shield has better acting in those scenes than in the whole of 24, FW fanboy or no, and is miles better.
True: I can't wait to watch The Wire, and I hope it lives up to all the hype I've heard, but so far The Shield is pretty damn good.
