Don't be like that, playa hata. The aftermath of Caesar's death is just as interesting as Caesar himself, and on the show, James Purefoy (Marc Antony) really kicks all kinds of ass in season 2. Season 2 itself isn't as good as Season 1, but it was still quite awesome.

Watched the episode of The Sopranos when Furio does his first job for Tony. Where he goes into the whore house and starts kicking the crap out of everbody. What an awesome scene. Knocks around the whores, beats on the annoying japanese lady, then breaks the guys arm with a pipe after all is said and done he shoots him in the kneecap. Awesome.

The best part though is when Tony tells Dr. Melffi what Furio did with a big smile on his face. Then he tells her that he wants to smash her face in with a brick and turn her face into ground beef.

Startin' to get into this show again. :)

I don't know if anybody watches Dexter here but the third season has some of the best writing yet. I just watched the episode from last week and it is pretty damn good.

Continuing with Arrested Development (great!) and started Mad Men, one ep in, so far so good.

Oh, and The Shield is as awesome as ever. Forrest Whittaker = :dio:

ha you are only on season 5, last time I talked to you you were 2 seasons ahead of me. Now I don't know if I should find season 7 online or wait for the DVDs.

3rd season of Dexter is boring. But still pretty good.

Can anybody else recommend a show like the Shield? Gritty, and pretty action packed? Because The Sopranos is good and all, but it's too slow to watch more than 1 or 2 episodes at a time. I was thinking of The Wire, my dad really likes it. And no I don't want people to recommend 24 any other show from FOX.

I've heard fantastic things about The Wire, but got so many shows to finish, am holding it in reserve.

And that's Forest Whitaker, of course.

I feel like the boring parts have been preparation for episodes like last weeks with the wife killer. And then they are actually successfully developing the characters around him for once unlike past seasons.

Yeah, I'm loving the third season, and I love that Dexter finally has got a friend.

Why don't you want people to recommend 24? It's pretty action packed and it's a solid show.
I'm planning to get my hands on Dexter season 1. Is it like "the- good-guy-appears-to-be-a-good-guy-but-at-night-he-kills-bad-people"?
:D

Correct. It is about a dorky, polite forensic blood splatter analyst that butchers people that the law can't capture.

24 seems like a ridiculous, absurd TV show which has an underlying neo-conservative "everyone is out to bomb America" message but I've only watched one episode.

24 still remains one of the greatest TV experiences I've had after having seen most of the good stuff. Seasons one and two were so thrilling that I had a hard time sitting still while watching them, I can't imagine any other show being as exciting. Of course, it gets worse with every season, the third season is solid, but the rest just feel recycled.

24's awesome if you're new to it, but in comparison to, say, The Shield, it's pretty darn lame.

I've only seen the first two and a bit seasons of 24- the first was pretty awesome, in a fast paced none of this really makes sense but enjoy the ride kind of way- the second was so so, getting really bad at times (if I remember, about three episodes were spent with Jack's daughter being chased by a... cougar?), and by the third season it kind of just seemed repetitive and I gave up on the show.

Thank you for common sense Zad. I'm not expecting to get The Shield part 2, but I need a new show to watch. Something that somewhat lives up to The Shield. 24 is shite. FOX garbage, for those of you who like/liked 24 and have never seen The Shield do yourselves a favour and watch it.

Now if anybody can recommend a show worth watching that somewhat resembles the true grittiness and action/drama that The Shield delivers, i'd be quite happy.

So far i'm leaning to The Wire. Too bad it's on it's last season.

Meh, I liked The Shield, but it was never THAT good, and I'm not sure why you're comparing it to 24, other than the fact that they're both equally lame and silly at times. Anyway, having seen season one of The Wire, I'd say The Shield is a children's show compared to it. The Wire is what I'd expect a realistic portrayal of crime on the streets to be, and it's better in all aspects, particularly in the dialogue.

Disagree. All of these sorts of shows have a certain number of HOLY SHIT moments that make them awesome. 24 was lucky if there were a couple a season. The Shield manages it a couple of times an episode. Fine, it's not 100% realistic, but that's not what I want. The moments in season 5 when SPOILER

Forest Whitaker realises that Vic & co screwed him over the deal with the Russians and knew that he was bugging them.

OR

Forest Whitaker realises that he was exposing his emotional side on camera and arrests Lem

You ask me, The Shield has better acting in those scenes than in the whole of 24, FW fanboy or no, and is miles better.

True: I can't wait to watch The Wire, and I hope it lives up to all the hype I've heard, but so far The Shield is pretty damn good.

Didn't The Shield have a guy strangle a cat?
