Nothing on obZen stands out when I listen to it besides maybe the last song. It's decent but I just can't really fall in love with a single song off it.

Definitely one of the easiest Meshuggah album to get into.

That's not necessarily a good thing...

I think it's a good combination of their previous albums but I was hoping for some more crazy stuff like Catch33 or I

You should have brought that up about 13 years ago. :omfg:

Anyone else amped for the new Scar Symmetry? Probably not... But I think they're one of the best acts in metal today. Pitch Black Progress and Symmetric in Design were amazing albums and I'm really expecting an equally great album this time around. I believe it's out sometime this spring.

Also Into Eternity and Arsis come to mind.

What's this about a new Aborym and two new Axis of Perdition albums?

It's cool. It's like something from The Wall.

Except the Wall didn't have gay rainbow colors all over the place...

It looks like a Korn album cover.

The guy looks like he is from the children's book "where the wild things are" Over all not a bad piece of art but as an in flames cover, Yuck

Being the diehard In Flames fanboy I am I'm going to love it regardless. I was a huge Come Clarity fan outside of a couple tracks. :: Shrug :: Unless they go back to Soundtrack I'll love it.

As for the cover I'm not that thrilled with the art work. Not that it reminds me of any particular band... But it doesn't really scream In Flames. I miss their Jester race through Reroute album covers. You kinda always knew it was In Flames.

Just what I've heard and read of. More excited for the latter, tbh, Aborym are good but I hardly listen to them.

Aborym should be badass.

Also does anyone know if The Amenta is going to put out a new album soon? I forgot about them until spinning Occasus a bit lately.

I think they will soon, they can't re-release Occasus forever.

Not intending to break up this chain of hatred that's going on, but I have to admit I actually like this. The problem with Come Clarity's artwork was that it was too simplistic, with just one facet to concentrate on...here, there's a lot to analyze and interpret. Then again, we can never judge music from the cover of an album anyway...were that the case, nobody would bother listening to stuff like, I dunno, Number of the Beast (because, let's face it, some of the Iron Maiden artwork is a bit silly).

With that in mind, I have both high hopes and high expectations for A Sense of Purpose. I listened to the brief snippets of music that could be heard in the band's studio diaries, and it sounded very fast, visceral, and (of course) melodic. In Flames has always been my favorite metal band, so I would be buying this on Day One regardless of pre-release hype (one of the few bands where I would pull that risk), but I really don't think I'm going to be disappointed.

On an unrelated and less controversial note, new Scar Symmetry = :dio:

Emperor Me you're right, you cannot judge album by cover art, but this cover really sucks!

And it's gonna be called Tohcoth.
Tohcoth [to:koþ]= "This name comprehendeth the number of all the fayries, who are diuels next to the state and condition of man" - Dr. John Dee.

Regardless what it means, this is excellent news!

Well, it could be worse. Remember the STYE cover art?
