Yeah no shit.It seemed forever since Odyssey.I think that's the longest time between albums they ever did.

Jul. 16 - Montreal, Quebec - The Medly

Oh baby, fucketh ya. To be honest, I only have (and only have heard) The Odyssey, but I love it so very much (I hope they play the entire song live). I'll be checking this one out. Any reccomendations for their other albums?

Skip "V -The new mythology suite" I was told it was one of there best way back then but it's an uninspired overrated borefest that no one deserves to have to go through.

DIVINE WINGS OF TRAGEDY is the way to go and it's simply their best release to date.

V is perfectly fine imo.

I'd check out that one or Divine Wings.

Great with a new album from SX. It was the reason i stayed alive the last couple of months.

I hope they'll record a DVD or someting after this.

I'm with grandbazaar Brahm. Skip V and go straight for Divine Wings.

Aight, thanks for the tips, boys. I'll check out Divine Wings; if I like (which I'm sure I will), I'll go to V, though maybe Twilight in Olympus because I'm a sucker for songs/albums about Graeco-Roman mythology.

Don't forget The Damnation Game though, it's also a pretty solid record.

What's this hate on V.No it's nowhere near the level DWOT was but it's not the snore fest you people make it out to be.At least to me it's not. It's a solid album not their best but a solid album nonetheless.

If there is one SX album not to get it's their debut s/t album. Now that one sucks because:

a.Russell Allen isn't in it and their first singer sucked
b.It's poorly produced
c.Lyrics are cheesy for SX standards

People are always so hysterical about saying this one sucks, i don't think it does. The singer isn't the best no, and i can sort of understand why people hate him. But imo he isn't that bad, and he shouldn't be compared to Russell. Rod has his own style and i think he fits together with the lyrics, makes them come alive etc. He does a fine job on many songs like Shades of Grey, Raging Seasons etc. I don't think they would have the same feel if Russell sang them. And how are the lyrics cheesy btw? I think their pretty interesting for the most part.

As for b. well i don't think the music suffers from the poor production, i think it makes the album a lot more gritty and raw and i think it works, the S/T is arguably their heaviest album. Add to that that it's also probably the most proggy one.

Different strokes for different folks glad to see someone likes it because I sure don't.

But then again there are those who like Kamelot's first 2 albums which I don't like because of the lead singer was a poor version of Midnight and keep in mind that Kamelot are my favorite band.

When you are used to one peticular singer it's hard to accept another one regardless if he was the first singer or a replacement(hence the hate for Owens in Iced Earth).I didn't care for his vocals and not just because he wasn't up to par with Allen it's just I didn't care for his voice.

But hey to each their own.

I didn't like The Odyssey at all really, with the exception of a couple tracks. I didn't like the songwriting or the production, so I really hope I like the new one more (I remember talking about this on the old boards :p )...

I would agree with many others that Divine Wings of Tragedy is the one to check out. Personally, I like V a lot, but it is a concept album and the production and sound is a bit "distant", particularly when compared to the other two, so I can see how it might sound uninspired or dispassionate to some.
