On the topic of Christian Power Metal, I often wonder what Jon Schaffer's overall views of Christianity are. I know he once said in an interview that he believes in the human spirit and he does believe in some higher power (ie. God). But musically, he seems stuck between pro-Christian (Watching Over Me) and anti-Christian (Damien) lyrics.

Well he was raised Catholic, so I think he'll always be torn, or pulled in either direction. You can feel the tension in Dracula, A Question Of Heaven and to a certain extent Spatial Architechs.

To me, it seems he feels that Jesus was a good teacher, and in the back of his mind thinks that maybe he was the son of god, but he hates what the Catholic Church has done to Christianity. American Patriotism and God are taught to go hand in hand, which must add to the tension too.

Weren't the lyrics to "Spatial Architects" written by Hansi?

Umm, so I read a few of the earlier posts and I'm confused . Is there a new album out?

Not yet. Soon. And then he'll have the third album out about a year later.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Theocracy have set "Skeletor Goes to Mars" as the title of their soon-to-be-released sophomore album. Yes, you read that right. "Skeletor Goes to Mars."

"I know a lot of people will complain about it, but we thought it was just crazy enough to work," says vocalist and songwriter Matt Smith. "To be honest, there are so many bands out there nowadays, you really have to do something unique to stand out from the crowd. I think this title and cover will definitely get some attention." He maintains, however, that the title was more than just a blatant attempt to market a recognizable product. "I've gotten kind of tired of everything being so serious all the time in Metal. I mean we're guilty of that as well, and we're a serious band, but there's a lot of humor on this album, and we really wanted that to shine through in the title. We like to joke around and have a good time, so why not let that extend to our music?"

Lest his band be mistaken for a comedy act, Smith maintains that there are plenty of heady messages behind the album's lyrics. "'Skeletor Goes to Mars,' the track itself, is very metaphorical. It is an epic that may seem silly on the outside, but there is a lot of truth behind the characters and story in that song. And the more lighthearted imagery on the album is tempered by some pretty intense subject matter. This isn't a Weird Al album, that's for sure."

Smith is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on the 12-song album, which is scheduled for a summer release.

A short clip of the "Skeletor Goes To Mars" title track is now available here.

The chorus is awesome! :dio:

It's a joke. It was posted on April Fool's. The dude is a clown, though. You've heard his St. Anger tribute, right? What about his preview for the last album? Look back in this thread, the links should be there. He's a funny dude.

LOL, that part just kills! When are they completing the new album? It seems like they've been working on it for ages.

I guess Matt's in the last stages now. He's mixing the last few tunes and redoing some vocals. One album turned into two, though. He won't release them both at the same time, but we should get another album shortly after the first.

Oh, cool. I'd prefer it if they just picked the best songs for a single album though, but if both albums are of the same quality as the debut we are in for a real treat.

O' Come Emmanuel :dio:

That's a link to Theocracy's 2007 Christmas song. Again, it's a killer tune! I generally hate Christmas songs, but they totally turn this shit into straight up metal tunes. The lyrics are cheesy still, but the music is killer as always.
