Even if many bands from yesteryear no longer produce decent music, there is a huge resurgence of this genre in Europe. You just have to be willing to look for it.
Agreed. Warrant's new album is damn good. Aside from Shadowlife, I don't think Dokken has released a bad post-80's album. Firehouse continue to kick ass (aside from that song "The Dark"). Winger's new CD seems like it's going to be very good. Bon Jovi continues to release quality modern rock albums. Skid Row, though nothing like they were with Bach, released a very good heavy alt-rock album with Thickskin. Slaughter's last album, Back To Reality, was great! Tesla rules...still!
Of course, then you have Motley Crue which have released a handful of good songs over the course of a few albums since Dr. Feelgood. Def Leppard hit a brick wall with X. Then you've got the bands that got back "together," put out a one-off album trying to cash in on the so-called 80's resurgance, the album sucked, and then they disappeared again. And then countless other lesser known 80's acts continue to release sub-par albums to their small fanbase.
But then there are bands like Bombay Black and Trixie, new bands, that pump out some killer 80's-styled rock music. If you miss out, your loss.
