By the way, for those who don't mind doing a little reading, some friends of mine did a really awesome interview with Jon Oliva a couple months ago. In it, he talks about the new JOP, TSO, finding the lost Criss Oliva tapes, and what's going (or not going) on with Savatage.

Excellent read when you've got the time!

Great interview, but does Jon speak in such terrible English? Hahaha.

LOL. No, my friends are from Holland and Belgium. All terrible English is solely theirs.

I figured that, but I don't know that I've ever read the translation being that bad! It's like they wrote it as if they had said it instead of just typing what he actually said. Weird. Hehe.

Great interview, though. I've been saying for years that JOP is Savatage and it's lame that TSO does so well and Savatage does not. So it's cool hearing it come from Jon, too, you know? The industry is lame. I see TSO every year they come around and I'm amazed at how many old people are there, how many housewives and business-types are there, and they all LOVE, they ROCK OUT, to "Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24)!" Every time the place goes nuts for that song! And it's baffling because not a single one of those people would ever go see Savatage, and that's a Savatage song. It's ridiculous.

For up to the minute CAGE conversations and info, click on this link for our myspace page which has recieved quite a lot of activity in the past few months. Stay tuned and patient and all will be rewarded! - Sean Peck

March of the Cage!!!

Glad to hear this, Darker than Black kicked ass.

I wish I could go see em. TSO that is. Last year I though a concert was coming on TV and I was gonna tape it, but it was some cheesy lame ass x-mas thing with an old man and a kid crying or something, seriosuly what the fuck???? it had TSO music in it, but what the hell was it? It was so gay.

But yeah, that was a good interview. I agree mostly with the whole JOP is Savatage thing. But its not really the same in all areas, I would still like an album from Savatage, I find the production on the JOP albums alot different, and I like hearing Caffery play, etc.. JOP is amazing however and I would take it anyday over no Savatage, or a stupid band name like Jon Oliva's Savatage.

The very definition of "paradox", wouldn't you say? I get a kick out of it....seeing some long-haired metal dude in a Poets and Madmen t-shirt standing in line next to some old geezer in a tuxedo is priceless.

That video was geared more toward the mainstream to attract more fans. The concerts are much more rocked out with no staged interludes like with Ossie Davis and the runaway girl. And you certainly won't find Jewel or Michael Crawford doing any solo songs either. Seeing TSO is quite the concert experience.

No. I don't think so. They don't tour much, just a few weeks. There's two touring companies, one does the east coast, the other the west. One is lead by Chris Caffrey, the other lead by Jon Oliva.

No, Ken, Jon has no part of the touring TSO. He writes songs and makes an occasional one-off appearance on the TSO East tour. Caffery leads the East, Al Pitrelli leads the West.

The two tours play from late November until early January, USA only. They are getting so popular now that in bigger cities they are actually playing TWO SHOWs in ONE DAY. I was checking out the Phoenix date, and they play at 3:00 p.m. and again at 7:00 p.m.

Fair enough. I knew it was somebody. :)

Amazing, huh? They put on such a brilliant show, though.

TSO is awesome.

I'm sorry, I didn't know you were all fans here! I mean, to me there seemed to be a lack of Savatage mentioning around, so I just assumed... but whatever.
the cds i can buy next are Gutter Ballet or Poets and Madmen, which would you recommend?

Skip Poets&Madman, it's a very weak album compared to their previous ones.
Gutter Ballet is their best IMO.

Gutter Ballet is their best (with Streets and Hall), IMO too. But Poets&Madmen is a great great album too.
