Yes. I have over 1800 and plan on supporting all my fav bands.
I have to admit ; since purchasing a home i have been downloading to "try" before i "buy" seeing as money is no longer falling off the tree.
I plan on making a fairly large purchase from cdinzane, CM, and cduniverse pretty soon tho because i have been lax as of late.
Especially since the new Blind Guardian, and Iron Maiden albums have been offcially released :)

you can be like me and be stubborn and close minded and only buy shit you know you will like and never try anything new. That works well. I am too lazy to download plus unlike people with excuses here, I damn well know if I downloaded it and it was a good copy I would never buy it. So I just steer clear of doing it.

You can have restraint. I admit that occasionally if I keep a downloaded album too long it takes me a lot longer to buy the real thing. Synchestra, for instance, I didn't buy that until 6 months after it was released. I waited, partially, because I wanted the limited edition, but the biggest reason was that I had downloaded it and listened to it like crazy! Once I realized the limited version wasn't showing up around here I'd check hevydevy.com and that $25 price tag always made me go, "Well, I can buy at least two, probably three, CDs for that much!" And I would buy something else. Eventually I did buy it, but Devin Townsend is one of my all-time favorites. I shouldn't have waited 6 months.

So yeah, it can be tough for even the most supportive of fans. But like the new Blind Guardian album. I just bought it yesterday, and I had downloaded it. But with this album I listened a few times and then deleted it. Sometimes it's hard to delete it, though.

Actually, not me. I am obsessive/compulsive and I "must" have the booklet , lyrics, digipacks, bonus tracks, limited editions/yadayada.
So no I would "not" settle for a folder or a blank CD-R.
If you knew me you would understand

In my case I rarley even listen to the downloads. Listen mainly in my car and i am too lazy too burn them. So i guess they are "byte" collecting in my comp rather than "dust" collecting on the shelves :)

Therefore for me to give something enuff spins it is a must I "own: it.

What are you listening to it for? I download to see if I like the album, if you're going to say the voiceovers keep someone from hearing whether or not they'd like the album then you're retarded. People who hate voiceovers hate the fact that they can't fully enjoy the album without buying it or waiting for some other turd to upload the retail version.

Generally I download leaks because I don't want to wait another X weeks before hearing an album.

I'm the same exact way. It even drives me mad when a band/label sends a CD without the back insert! Happens all the time, just the CD and booklet. I realize it's their way of keeping reviewers from selling them, but goddamn it sucks! I need back inserts for Illusions by Arwen, Dies Irae by Where Angels Fall, and Fate In Gray by Time Symmetry. It sucks!

Anyway, I know what you mean.

If I ever download anything it just sits on my PC. Occasionally I'll put it on a CDR, but rarely because I like WMAs on my CDRs because they're smaller than MP3s. And then it's only for my truck as I live in a shitty town and generally don't trust people so I don't want someone stealing my CDs. Plus, I can put most bands' discographies on one CD and listen to it on shuffle while driving. That's awesome!!

Most of what I have permanently saved on my PC is just rare shit. Old demos converted to MP3 and whatnot.

Yeah, me too. If its got the voiceovers i don't bother listening and just wait for the real thing.

Of course, sometimes I download a band's album if they're playing in the near future. If its good, I go see them and they get money and possible future sales, if it sucks, I just never listen to it again.
