Germany's WACKEN OPEN AIR: 50,000 Tickets Sold For Next Year's Event

ICS Festival Service GmbH, which organizes the Wacken Open Air festival, has announced that 50,000 tickets have already been sold for next year's event, which will be held July 30 - August 1, 2009 in Wacken, Germany. The remaining tickets are expected to be snapped up by the end of January.

In what is a very unexpected move, the ever controversial queen of what is the biggest metal festival in the United States has announced that ticket prices will reach a record low of $0.00.
"That's right, OZZY and SHARON OSBOURNE and tour producer LIVE NATION broke the news today at the Concert Industry Consortium in Los Angeles that their 12th annual hard rock spectacular--a 25-date extravaganza launching July 7 in Los Angeles--is pulling the plug on ticket prices and giving the power back to the fans calling this summer’s OZZFEST "FreeFest." Metal Queen Management Musicfest This Weekend

With over 40 bands performing on two stages, Metal Queen Management hosts the first ever MQMusicfest. Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door and includes camping for the entire weekend. The event will go rain or shine with an indoor venue on site.

OZZFEST Has Turned Into A Swedish Invasion

This year's Ozzfest lineup includes an unprecedented four Swedish acts: IN FLAMES, THE HAUNTED, ARCH ENEMY and SOILWORK. Previously, only three Scandinavian bands had graced the Ozzfest stage in America over the past decade: Norway's DIMMU BORGIR in 2004 and Swedish metallers MESHUGGAH in 2002 and DRAIN STH in 1997.

14 KILLED IN BLASTS AT MOSCOW ROCK FEST

MOSCOW (AP) - Two women suicide bombers blew themselves up at a giant rock festival in suburban Moscow on Saturday, killing at least 14 people, Russian officials said. The interior minister said Chechen rebels may have been behind the attack. Up to 40,000 spectators, many of them young, were attending the popular annual festival at the Tushino airfield when the explosions went off at two different gates.
