Here comes Sindustries. With such a title the first thing that came to my mind was indus-metal. So Gardenian have sold themselves to the indus wave? No more Swedish thrash/death metal? No more heavy and fast riffs? Not at all!

Of course, some indus elements have taken place, but these new sounds don't destroy their original thrash metal sound. In fact, a much deeper sound has taken place and the typical aggression of Gardenian is still there. Nothing to worry about their sound & spirit. However, the song-writting is less impressive compare to Soulburner (previous record). It was anyway difficult from the beginning to recreate the surprise of the previous record. Soulburner is gone, let's talk about Sindustries.

And it starts with Selfproclaimed Messiah (autobiographic joke ?). Fans will immediately face these new sounds : an arabesque intro (Spanish guitar ?) and this "distorted" guitar sound playing this arabesque riff again. The typical Gothenburg sound takes place just after the intro. The mixture of Egyptian melodies to the typical Swedish death metal sound is an excellent start. You can even say that thrash riffs are "dancing" around this arabesque sound. Doom & Gloom, a typical Swedish thrash song, is infected by clear voices (chorus only) and the guitar riffs will "atomize" your brain (who said Fear Factory ?). At the end I realized these new sounds have perfectly intergrated Gardenian's original sound. Well done !

Die-hard fans will love this one and for those of you who are fans of this Swedish sound, Sindustries is a good record that deserve its place in your metal collection. With Sindustries the message is loud & clear : Gardenian will not follow trends. The transition could have been smoother and done in two chapters (albums). But why wasting time ? There were free enough to produced immediately their wishes. Bands who don't sold their spirit for money will always be free.
Gardenian is one of them.
