Ive tried twice before and I cant seem to get into Manowar.. I have the Mp3s of Battle Hymns.. I'll try harder, I promise..

Not the best Manowar to start with... try Louder Than Hell instead... :D

NP
AARNI, samples from the webstite...

I just realized I like the song Metal Daze.. and not Death Tone and now Im listening to something else cuz I got bored.. I will try your suggestion.

What do you like more from Battle Hymns? The rockin' stuff or the epic stuff?

Well the only 2 songs so far that have stuck with me have been: Metal Daze and now Dark Avenger, and Manowar was pretty good.

I'd also like to know why people say David Defeis and this guy (Eric Adams?) sound so alike, I just dont hear it.. At least on this album.

i like both BUT -manowar is way gayer than BG
- BG has better songs
- BG has way more variety in their songs
- BG members do NOT wear tight leather outfits
- manowar gets boring after a while
- manowar--> americans( :wink: )

The only similarities they have is that theyare both great singers, and both do the clean vox with limited/but powerful harsh or raspy edge. Whoever is saying they are very similar is deaf or cannot distinguish vocal differences. I know some people that listen or "not listen" so little that they lump everyone with clean vox as sounding similar ;;; (lol). Then there is the peeps that dont even think clean vox belong in metal?? While Emokids go from Grunts, to sounding like a 12 to 15 year old boy with No balls. That is the irony in the emo genre. Most lack range which is required for emotion and yet there label or genre defining word is "emotional?" Anyways got off on tangents.

No these two do not sound a like :)

Hmm, well for more straight up stuff you should look at Fighting the World or Louder than Hell, for more epic stuff, Into Glory Ride or Hail to England (and then Triumph of Steel if you like 8-part 28 minute monsters :D ).

MANOWAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manowar music = tight, controlled, unique, powerful.
Blind Guardian music = long winded, lacking structure, mediocre.

Like other people have said, i like both but listening to Manowar just gets you pumped up. Blind Guardian are good also but doesnt have the same effect.
Plus they are very different metal bands, which makes it very to choose....i think Manowar just sneaks in.

Do you really think Blind Guardian are mediocre?...If BG are mediocre, then Gamma Ray and Helloween are crap, imo.

And complex structure doesn't mean lack of structure. On the other hand,Manowar's 8 part song from Triumph of Steel is lacking structure, imo.

Hey,i voted Manowar anyway, but someone saying BG are mediocre is beyond me.

By the way,Manowar are stupid americans!Just check some lyrics from Warlord(from Into Glory Ride):

"The man on the TV said we got lots of trouble overseas,
Well what the hell do i care,
you think they care about me,
Stop sendin' money, send'em all a bomb!"

not much wiser than Bush or Hitler.

all I'm expecting from Manowar is powerful war ballads and rockin' metal anthem...

Well, they are. When you strip away the layered effects and pomposity, BG are very average musicians. Their songs remind me of that line from Life of Brian, "He's making it up as he goes along!".

You think Andre is a mediocre musician? Ouch.

Yes, my stubby friend, I'm sure those lyrics are meant to be taken 100% at face value.

Did you listen to other BG albums aside from the last one?

Yeah, I've listened to them all. There are some really good bits such as Bright Eyes, Battlefield, Precious Jerusalem. But overall not really that great. But I've bashed this band enough in the past and I know how much people here like them, so I'll lay off.

For a third option I'd go either Pagan's Mind or Human Fortress (I really hope the latter haven't split up).
