Painkiller happens to be my favorite Priest track. It's also also their heaviest, to quoteThe Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time by Martin Popoff (An essentialaddtion to any metalhead's libary) "An almost Death level Priest track" It's obviously inferior to Priest's version, but still, you can't fuck too badly with the classics

That book has stuff like Nirvana listed in it. False advertising or what?

Fair point, but it was voted for by the public.

Bah! Wasn't there a thread about exactly the same thing about a month or two ago?!? Coz I vividly remember posting on it and was desperately looking for my comment on this one until I realized this is not the same thread as before

I'd have to listen to it again, but I remember always thinking Painkiller was a cool song, even when Priest did it.

But yeah, the solos in the original version were fantastic, and it always bugs me when people cover songs with fantastic solos and then don't play the fucking solos. Like when that guy from Dokken covered Mr. Crowley.

Indeed.

And I think if you're going to name essentials to metalhead libraries, books take a back seat to getting actual music.

Haha yes, the same thing happened to me. I was looking for my post, couldn't find it and didn't understand why, especially since Brahm's was still here, and I remembered what he said about that solo. There was a similar thread a while ago.

This song destroys you. I also would have never have suspected Chuck could sing like that if i hadn't heard it.
