I wish one day there would be a Daniel Hieman belting out some notes from Highlander one day on this show. What do you think people would say?

They should make a Metal Idol show. One for each category of vocal styles. I would love to see the bloopers from that show.

Hate it, but watch it every time. :(

I stop watching after the bloopers. I love seeing people get humiliated.

I'd love to see some obscure Goregrind band go in there and tear everyone a new asshole.

I actually like the singing competition part of it, I hate everything else.

I would love to see that but the thing is that metal isn't really big here in the states so there isn't any money to be made here.

Still that would be so damn cool to see a Metal Idol show.

He is classic.. some guys from work made a joke gift for a work christmas party - a DVD called 'Hanging with Hung'

They had some guy trying out singing some black metal style vocals. They told him he sucked and he yelled at simon. What a great moment.

I hate Idol, both American (it's in swedish television now :s) and Swedish with a strong, burning passion. My family just can't get enough of it and it makes me want to fucking kill myself...

Its called Pop Idol over here, and I've never watched it. Nor will I ever do so.

god no! those shows only produce weak and semi-talented artists. Sure, they can sing but they just had those record contracts thrown in their lap because they were on the mighty television. Those artists are often inferior and so overrated. Not to mention they butcher so many classics on that show :evil:

I used to have a huge crush on Paula Abdul during her "Opposites Attract" era :oops: . Then again, I'd still go her now.

Seriously though whatever happened to the whole "Battle Of The Bands" concept from all those 80's movies?

I never liked American Idol when it was shown here in Australia. But i found myself watching the last series and enjoyed watching Bo's performances. Too bad he didnt win.

Anywoo....Australia have their own version of Idol, which is exactly the same as American Idol but with shithouse judges like Kyle Sanderlands, who wouldnt know talent if it jumped up and bit him on his fat ugly face (Sir Wanksalot, you know who i'm takin' about).

On the Oz's last series, there was one contestant who actually made it through to the 2nd or 3rd round and sung nothing but metal songs. His first try out, he sung an Ill Nino song (well, they are metal enough for Idol) and put on the metal roar and growl and the judges actually liked it. Too bad he didnt make it to the final 20 or whatever the fuck it is.

Maybe that could open the door for more metal-orientated wannabe superstars in the future.

My second cousin won the last Australiain Idol.

Anyway, I think the most heavy metal they would ever be able to get on that show would be something like Nickelback. Metal is never going to appeal to the masses, well atleast until our parents are gone and we're adults.
