Has anyone seen or heard any updated news on these bands and their forthcoming albums? It seems like ages since "Volcano", "Chimera", and "God Hates Us All." And I've intentionally forgotten "Heretic." As for their sites, Slayer practically doesn't have one and --slayerized.net-- hasn't updated in awhile. I know Mayhem has an album coming, but no date. By all accounts, the Slayer album has been delayed repeatedly and should have been out last winter, and I haven't heard a peep from the Satyr camp. Any news if anyone has it would be welcome.

Heretic is better than Volcano and Chimera.

A shotgun to the face is better than pancreatic cancer and the ebola virus.

That doesn't make the shotgun to the face good.

It does if everytime you get a shotgun to the face you become stronger, like an abnormal superpower.

i borrowed Heretic from some one and despised it, then i bought Altars of madness off a used rack and loved it.

I havent heard anything much between the two albums (some of covenant), so i don't know if they have been constantly degradeing, but it is complete garbage by comparison.

Also god hates us all is garbage, Chimera, decent enough.

These bands should call it quits, as much as i would love to keep hearing new shit from them, they should calkl it quits, dont defile your reputation.

Satyricon's still good in my book. Volcano wasn't amazing, but it was cool enough for me.

Heretic is an excellent album. Original instrumentals, and true to form Morbid Angel throughout. They are the REAL inventors of death metal (My opinion). Not just some heavy thrash band, who eventually "get's it." They play music that boarders something entirely new with each record, yet never quite leave the warmth of the old sound. Line-up changes or not, the philosophy remains intact, not to play something for the sake of wickedness, or satanic rites, or other gimmick stuff. They are there to promote change, and in my honest opinion, Heretic was another step in the right direction. A personal pick of the last 5 years for me.

I know they are touring... They're fixing to pass through my area soon. Evidently, the original line-up is back together.

As far as Slayer goes I think they are going to try and release the new album sometime this year. I read in Revolver(I know, I know, cut me a break it is either that or Metal Edge *Snicker* where I am) that the band said it was going to be along the same lines as God Hates Us All.

The most recent Satyricon and Morbid albums were ok, if not up to their older material. Mayhem have never done it for me, nor Slayer, really.

Morbid Angel i haven't really followed recently.
Satyricon and Mayhem are making gay modernized black metal.
Slayer ran out of good riffs over a decade ago.

As if doing gay BM wasn't enough... now they'll go fuck some classics.

I hate new Mayhem... if only Euro was still alive and friends with Varg... imagine a BM album co-written by Euro, Varg, Snorre and Hh...

Volcano may not be the best Satyricon has ever made, but they have my respect for reinventing themselves with every album.
