Explain why, in which genre and/or which band.

The Cure - Plainsong - Black Metal

That song is all about a powerfull melancholic atmopshere, in fcat it has more atmosphere than any other song I've ever heard. I would love to hear it covered by a kvlt BM band, with loads of dense keyboards and lo-fi production.

EDIT:

I thought of it and I would choose Nocternity to do the cover.

Manic Street Preachers - Another Invented Disease, done in the true heavy metal style.

I always thought that this was the song that needed a heavier make-over.. it's around Guns & Roses level of power right now and I'd love to hear it Judas Priestified because it has a potentially awesome chorus and the lyrics are HOT.

perhaps I should work out how to link a sample before making such claims..

Garth Brooks's "The Thunder Rolls" done in a dark, epic power metal fashion with big choruses, and mid- to upper-range vocals, like Brainstorm, for instance.

For a country song this is really dark and moody, it's a pretty slammin' chorus, too (relatively speaking, of course). Plus, there is a verse that is generally omitted where the cheating husband comes home and the wife shoots him! Hahaha. Not very country at all. I would LOVE to cover this song. It would be awesome.

Sonata Arctica or Children of Bodom to cover Runaway by Bon Jovi....just cause it would rule.

Rolling Stones - Sister Morphine

The stoner thread got me thinking about this. It seems kind of obvious, I suppose, but I think it would have worked quite well if Kyuss had covered it.

Johnny Cash - A Boy Named Sue

Nile. Think of it.

And Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy

covered by Cradle Of Filth. Come on, Dani, out of the closet.

I don't know about CoB covering it, but Sonata Artica would be cool. I still think their cover of "Still Loving You" is one of the best covers I've ever heard by a power metal band.

Have you heard Atreyu's cover of "You Give Love A Bad Name?" It's pretty good. I think that band sucks, but listening to that cover it's just further proof of how superior music was back then.

I think hearing it would make me sad.

You've got an extra .MP3 at the end of it.
