I finally made up my mind and voted POP  that include an awful lot of alternative pop such as dEUS, Admiral Freebee, etc...

Really my main love is avant garde/experimental/progressive stuff. Then straight Metal comes in afterwords.

Do you mean avant garde, experimental metal? Or just avant-garde music in general?

If by avant garde music in general you mean John Cage, no (I fucking hate that guy). But yes, I enjoy experimental music of non-metal origin if I can get ahold of it and it doesn't suck.

Haha, yeah when you made that post the word "Cage" did cross my mind, actually. But anywayl, I'm curious now... What about experimental jazz?

I'm not overly familiar with a lot of jazz, there is some fantastic and cool stuff to be found there (as well as some good fusion, while we're at it), but I hate nothing more than lame, safe jazz (or early jazz, for that matter). Miles Davis and John Coltrane tend to know what's up though.

Weird, you're exaclty like my friend Sean. So much so it's scary.

O_o

That's my name.

 This is like a Twilight Zone episode.

You know, I would go as far as saying metal is my second favorite genre and 80's rock is my favorite. In fact, that's what I'm saying! Haha. So I guess my second favorite genre to metal would have to be chick music like Sarah McLachlan, Charlotte Martin, Tori Amos, Imogen Heap, Tara Maclean, etc., shit like that.

My all-time favorite band is Def Leppard, though I don't lump X into that equation.

yeah, X was a big letdown... otherwise the Leps have always been pretty strong (and that does include Slang, a very underrated album imho)

Slang is excellent, a great underrated album. X was horrible. "Now" started it off decently enough, it went downhill quick and ended with the almost-great "Scars," the girly sounding choruses ruined it. They took the male sound from their signature chorus sound, it was too...uh...fluffy for me. Euphoria was excellent, so I had high hopes for X.

Have you heard Man-Raze? Fucking terrible name, but they're decent. It's Phil's new band.

nope; I didn't know Phil had a new band... does that mean the Leps are dead ? :? :(

and, well, if you can link an mp3 of this Man-Raze (awful name indeed) I would greatly appreciate...
I saw their website had short samples but I hate short samples...

I haven't heard any full clips yet. Their name sucks, but if you understand their reasoning, I guess it's OK, but who the fuck is going to know their reasoning?
