I don't know...first i wanted to hear very badly this album, as is the new one from the band that made the progressive neo-classical masterpiece named Underworld. But after reading the review, i may proceed with caution.

Any particular reason? It's a spectacular album! Why would such a positive review put you off?

This album is great!! With new singer, which I sometimes think sounds like Angra's Singer. It even has some (not many ) growl vocals and it sounds good too.
The composition and the guitar work are as in the other two albums very good.
A good album to start 2006

For some reason I heard progressive neoclassical and thought Isildurs Bane but then you started talking about power metal

I'll probably still check it out :P

It has quite a few PM overtones, especially in the first track and in the vocal delivery. It's got so much else thrown into the mix that it's nigh on impossible to classify.

Al! Nice review my man. This album struck me the same way.

You'll find their earlier stuff to be just as good. They did change their sound a bit, as they use to emphasize Neo-classical elements much more. Also their old vocalist David Readman is the vocalist for Pink Cream 69 (amazing voice).

As for you prog/power metal fans, I definitely recommend you check this release out.

Adagio is brilliance - sheer brilliance. Haven't really heard this album, but since this band's last two albums were of such a high calibur, I'll just go ahead and pretty much buy this one blindly. Fans of prog and neo classical shouldn't be without this band.

This one smokes.... the new guy has a great voice... I hear a little of David Readman, Edu Falaschi, Bruce Dickinson and some more .... excellent replacement for an excellent band... all their albums score in the high 90's for me... you really should check them out... thought of them as a Symphony X clone at the beginning but they are SO much more ... Forte is one of the best "newcommers" to this world... excellent composing skills also... This new album seems a little more "accesible" to me, in THE GOOD SENSE... excellent, just excellent

Growled vocals. That's my main consern. If i listen to some Dark Tranquility or Necrophagist i think is fine and coherent the death vocalization but Adagio...i don't know if i'm ready for the change of listening that characteristic more than once in an album by them.Only a few seconds, one time only in Underworld was more than enough for me.The neo classical progressive stuff that they played i think demands crystal clear vocals throughout. And not high-pitched, just powerful mid range a la Roy Khan, Jorn Lande, or first vocalist of Falconer.

No way. They demand a strong vocalist such as Readman or Monsanto. The growls make this album very dark and help seperate it from typical power metal.

The growling vocals are not really long, but I think they are interesting and add some aggressiveness to the music.

I've never heard of Adagio, and I'm really interested in hearing them, based on all the positive reviews I'm hearing. Does anyone have a link to some audio samples? I couldn't find any at their website.

You can listen to 2 songs from their earlier albums (sreaming mp3s) at prograrchives.com (great site). Nothing from Domintate though, and not their best songs either, but it will give you a good impression of their sound.

I don't really feel like joining a new forum, but I wanted to ask you a question. What is the Brazilian music scene like (this review says you are from Brazil)? It seems like more and more great musicians are coming from Brazil; Hibria, Angra (obviously), Bill Hudson joining Cellador, and now you. Are there any other Brazilian bands worth checking out?

That's the "other" Adagio. This Adagio are from France. Although I think the singer himself is Brazilian.

What the hell? There is a band from Brazil called Adagio? I was actually talking about the French Adagio recruiting a Brazilian singer.

Edit - Adagio (Brazil) = doom death metal
