I've always been under the impression that when a smiley is used, any smiley, it's an indication of something not being that serious.

If I am ever really angry, my words will suffice. Using a smiley to show my anger would only take away from it, I think.

Eg:

"You bastard! How dare you delete my post!"

and

"You bastard! How dare you delete my post! :evil: "

The first one could be a joke, the second one isn't, else there'd be a :wink: or the equivalent.

And Quinten, that doesn't count as using smileys.
