Btw I love Arise! TSR hasn't arrived yet, and won't for a week or two.

Better or worse than Beneath The Remains? I don't really hate Sepultura.

Heh, don't own Beneath the Remains. But better than Schizophrenia, and better than the groove stuff on Chaos AD. IMO it's got the nice "tribal" energy of their first couple of early DM releases (Morbid Visions, etc), but has some nice thrash elements, and also grooves without being boring (like Chaos AD  )

I may check it out, thrash/groove/whateverthehellitis isn't high on my list of purchases at the moment. Any chance of an MP3?

Arise is the last great Sepul album. Everyone knows that.

Except for the people who like Chaos AD and Roots, but you know... they... well... I think you know what I mean.

It's not quite as thrashy as Beneath the Remains, or as raw and unpolished as Schizophrenia. You should pick it up, Zad, it's good stuff.

I am interested in getting Roots actually. Some of the songs on it really seem to eclipse everything on Chaos AD- an album I've always regretted buying, and which put me of Sepultura for a long time. But Roots seems to have more of a percussive backbone and underlying groove to it, which makes it seem like something I would enjoy.

Ooh, go carefully. It was once the heaviest album I owned, but it gets boring pretty quick. You can request songs from it at www.darksoul7.net , to make your mind up.

Beherit / Archgoat - Messe des Morts / Angelcunt (Tales of Desecration). Legendary Finnish BM. The Beherit half of this sucks, though. Holocausto must have been loaded!
Ofermod - Mysterion tés Anomias. Classic EP + 2 new tracks from the pioneers of religious BM.
Incriminated - The Miracle of Purity. Finnish Hellhammer-worship. Old-school black/death metal without resorting to ripping off the old masters.

Mr Bungle - Mr Bungle

The only album I'll ever buy with a clown on the front.
