I don't like Avenged Sevenfold, including this album. But if I did, they would get docked some serious points due to the fact that a member of their band is named Zacky Vengeance.

Just started listening to this album.

The first 5 tracks have really grabbed me. Im luke warm on the others so far. We'll see after more spins.

The vocals ARE different. I can understand the comments saying whiny , but for some reason they generally work for me. There are sections that really remind me of Motley's vocalist on the album with Holigan's Holiday on it...

Anyways - so far so good.

I think the whiny sound is just a side-effect of either the throat surgery, or the way he has to sing now. Bon Jovi had the same problem with his voice around the time before the Crush album, I believe, and he now also sings with more of a nasally tone. I think he's found ways to work with it, but if you listen to the song "Everyday" from Bounce and you'll hear what I mean.

If that's the way they have to sing in order to not lose their voices, by all means. I'm cool with that.

Get a new singer then. He was never really good anyways.

I think part of the issue with the vocals is actually the inconsistency of them. If he was "nasal" all the way through, I dont think Id even notice... but there are some points where his voice changes and sounds more throaty (surgery limitation makes sense to explain this).... I guess when you hear what he could sound like, you wish there was more of it.

The vocals on Trashed and Scattered are perfect. The nasal parts seem appropriate and are a little more limited...

Again - this album would defintely make my biggest surprises of 2005 list. Good stuff :)

Nah, I don't think I'd like nasal vocals all the way through

The fact that their guitarists actually had some talent surprised me a bit
