Don't make a fucking general music forum. Man, this is a metal site. C'mon. Where's the spirit?

I agree

I agree too.

You both missed the point.

I didn't miss the point after I read this:

Eyesore wrote:
A General Music forum would be for things like "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO IN 2006?" type threads. Any music thread that is posted in Hellheim gets lost in the shuffle. By GENERAL I don't mean a style of music.

As for Avant-Garde, why can't that go in the Alternative/Borderline Genres forum? Are you suggesting Avant-Garde would be a popular forum here? The Rock forum is vastly overlooked, any Avant-Garde forum would probably be worse.

I still don't agree.

What's your reasoning?

Or, if not a General Music forum, why not a General Forum? The difference with Helheim would be that it is moderated and that people would have to log in. It would house such stickies as "what are you reading", and the political/religious topics, etc. Just in a more serious and mature manner than in Helheim.

I agree. or helheim should be moderated, I certainly don't want to see people shitting in to another's mouth. Moderation is necessary.

IMO Helheim should be left as it is. It would be a place for disgusting things, and the general forum would be the perfect hiding place.

I think a General Forum and Hellheim would be completely redundant. They'd be the same with different names. I don't like the Hellheim forum (kind of), I come here to discuss music and any music posts posted in the Hellheim forum are generally ignored and/or disappear under a bunch of other non-music-related threads. I have nothing against those threads—within reason, of course—and I do participate in them, and I don't always discuss music, but when I want to discuss a random music topic that is general in scope and doesn't fit in one of the other music forums, I think a General Music forum is the best place for it. Let Hellheim be for everything else. This is a music website first and foremost, I think that should come first.

Honestly I'm not sure how it could be a bad idea. Someone please give me some good reasons as to why this idea wouldn't work.

I think that Helheim should be moderated, as Kathaarian said I don't want to see people shitting in each others' mouths. However, splitting it up into music and non-music is just stupid, Helheim would be completely unrecoverable then. Why not make better use of the Alternative section? I accept that an avant-garde forum wouldn't work, but surely Alternative should be for all other types of music not mentioned in the others, including non-metal? That's how I treat it anyway. Make Alternative your all-encompassing music forum, too many forums and they'll just get ignored. There really is no need to make extra forums when we have ones already that aren't used enough.

And having specific users' posts blocked is a stupid idea, how will you follow conversations?

I also think the alt forum should be extended to cover everthing else (its already been used for that in the past anyway), the general music forum is just unneccasry division. In my wee opinion at least.

It's very important, Mr 9th Highest Poster! We should form an Elder's Council, and throw lightning bolts at people.

haha if there was an elder council, EVERYONE else would be dead or banished within like a week tops. Then you guys would have to kill and eat each other to stay alive...like that soccer team.

I thought Dago's porn forum idea was pretty damn amusing. That kid needs to go into business or something. In a sad way, his idea made the most sense.

P.S. Good poll Zad, I do very much enjoy wallowing in the filth of the net....and being it as well.

And so the BM wehrmacht launches another offensive offensive and is repelled once again.

I think he's just expressing annoyance at the fact that it seems to be a regular happening.

Well, I have noticed a few people being banned lately, but warranted bannings, wouldn't you say?

The bm wehrmacht, not the banning.

Just sad to see potential contributors to this site ending their careers through a lack of self-discipline. Diversity is a good thing, but embarrasingly retarded flame wars are not.

Indeed, there is a fine line when it comes to arguing online. Aaron and I had our spat, it got stupid for a minute, then we resolved it. Others just don't want resolution when arguing online, even if that resolution is presented to them on a silver platter with flashing neon lights, they still won't see it, and if they do they'll simply ignore it.

Messageboards are made for discussions, that is their general purpose. People will disagree all the time, but there's an intelligent way of going about things. Unfortunately not everyone is willing to give that sort of thinking a chance.

Antagonization. The two 'is this how a moderator...' etc threads and the whole argument in the Evanescence thread probably cemented the whole thing.

The place is better without him. He made no worthy contribution whatsoever after re-registering, rather he just seemd to intent on finding out how far he could push. Just short of 100 posts seems to have been the answer.

He did make worthy contributions to the site, and I was invigorated to once again have him posting, however the man obviously has an issue with self restraint and is nearly consumed by hate, which is too bad.

I didn't read that argument in the evanescence topic before, but now that I did, I can say it's pretty fucked up. V has trouble walking away from a fight, but evantually he did. It seems to me, that he should have been banned just as clearly as you should have. All the wankery about that he didn't contribute anything, As I've read all his messages now, he contributed a whole lot more than most of us. You should just admit you like flaming once in a while, it's ok, I like it too. Just because you don't like him and because he posted your PM on the boards (which I see nothing wrong with) doesn't mean he should be banned.
