Anyone heard The Obssessed? It's Sabbath worship no doubt, but damn good stuff. Think Sabbath with more Rock. Wino from St. Vitus is the singer. If you find anything by them pick it up as most of it is out of print.

I used to own The Church Within, wasn't impressed at all, and sold it.

Damn you! Should have sold it to me!

It was a long time ago, I may like it now. I sold it like 10 years ago, or whatever. A long time ago, though, when I didn't listen to so many styles of music.

Besides the Black Sab with Ozzy records,i only have 2 doom CDs:the first Solitude Aeturnus and Candelmass' Nightfall...and i enjoy them a lot!

BTW,do you consider Paradise Lost's Icon and Draconian Times doom? And TYpe o Negative's World Coming Down?

No, on all three counts. The closest to doom is Icon, which really kickstarted Paradise Lost's current goth sound, but still retains a small amount of their past doom glory. Draconian Times is an out and out goth rock/metal record, as is anything by Type O Negative.

Also, if you have Nightfall, you need Epicus Doomicus Metallicus.

I'd also consider Icon as Paradise's Lost break from their doom past, although I still enjoy that album from time to time, at least a late more than Draconian Times.

Then ,it appears that the first three Paradise Lost albums are doom!I really need to try them!

BTW,yesterday i purchased 2 Candelmass remasters (Epicus Doomicus Metallicus and Tales of Creation) for 10 euros each!

3. To refrain from sexual misconduct.
4. To refrain from incorrect speech (lying, harsh language, slander, idle chit-chat).

except it's a very well known fact that a clever drug use opens the "doors of perception", it's true with LSD (which I do not wish to try because I find it a tad too extreme  ), it's also true with cannabis that is known to be used by numerous yogis in India...

and then, I'd ask you what your religious/philosophical beliefs are and if you never break any rule of it ?

Herb is natural... had to give it when I had kids.
Anyone have any LSD experiences worth mentioning?
There was aperiod in my life in the early-mid '80s when me and an accomplice fried every weekend, all summer, rarely seeing daylight
Here are a few of mine:
I once ate acid and had a waking dream where I was sitting across from myself (not across from a mirror, but there were two "me's") in a semi-dark room and watched myself slowly age and rot into a mouldering skeleton... no conversation, just the two of us staring at each other... took 4 hits that time and it was the only true hallucination I ever had.
Another time, me and a couple of friends of mine ate a few tabs and decided that it would be nice to take shelter from the summer heat, so we rented a cheap motel room for the night... one of these guys was frying for the first time and he went into a purple-faced nut attack. He used to carry a dagger supposedly made from a human rib, replete with macabre carvings (anybody remember the dagger Ash found in the basement in the first Evil Dead?)... anyways, all was cool and the room was alight with trails and I can feel it (the acid, that is) creeping in when I look over at the rookie and,

A vague sense of dread begins to ferment in my bones and before you know it (time loses meaning, so "before you hnow it" could have been 5 minutes to a half an hour) the dumbass proceeds to stabbing himself in the leg... my freind and I both decided that it would be a good idea to try and relieve the maniac from his weapon, lest he tires of mutilating himself and looks for a less painful (to himself, at least!) means through which to excersise his destructive urge, namely us. We got the knife away from the fucker amidst much overturning of chairs and general furniture upheaval. got the fucker outside, cooled down and spent the rest of the night alternately walking around and sitting on downtown benches... as we were sitting across from a Mexican restaraunt, some dude in braces (you know kind of like crutches, but they are worn on the arms?) happened by...the herky-jerky way the fucker walked looked EXACTLY like a puppet bouncing up and down on his strings... freaky shit.
In conclusion all that I remember beyind that is sitting in the restaraunt (we eventually succumbed to the smell of Mexican spices and got a table under a picture of a woman making tortillas and following my every move with her eyes). Fact: tacos and acid do NOT mix.
Every once in a while, I still can see a slithering shadow out of the corner of my eye, accompanied by a feeling of black dread, to this day, though infrequently.
Acid is some heavy shit, and is an experience that is hard to describe to someone that has never done it.

I took acid many times, but never in high quantity(1 and half was the maximum)!Sometimes it was funny, sometimes fucking scarry!I usually like to play some Jimi Hendrix,or Doors ,or Velvet Underground and just stare at the walls and the ceiling, admiring their moves and contortions,in awe! Also like when i go to pee,and the toilet seems to swallow me!

Dosage: 2 tabs / 3 tabs (depends on the strength... round here all the acid is weaker than Anna Benson, so ask the guy you get it from)
Mood: Positive, obviously.
Music: Xasthur is good, Floyd (duh), Sleep for sure, generally anything that's very layered and has more than one thing going on at once. Or, the exact opposite, extremely repetitive music with little going on, like Nargaroth's Seven Tears.

If you want a bad trip, be pissed or listen to death metal. When I did that, a water demon chased me all the way to Prospect Park.

He crawled out of my faucet, you see.

Oh crap yeah, you told me about that and I laughed my ass off. I was with a guy on acid a few days ago and he was crawling into the ground saying I was a lunatic. Afterwards he said he was escaping from me without being to obvious, by tunniling his way underground, of course, hehe.

Heh, sounds like Ian to me. I remember once we would have had to bail him out if that garbage can hadn't been empty and easy to overturn. *NOTICE: This is not the Ian of this site. I'm sure he's a respectable and reputable gentleman in person.*

Why don't you get AIM? That way we don't have to clutter up all the boards with the backandforth nonsense on the weekdays when MSN is foreign to me.

Per the topic: I'm considering purchase of an Esoteric album, which one should I pick up?

(radar detects doom question)

Metamorphogenesis if you want instant atmosphere. Epistemological Despondency if you like to work harder for your music..

nothing they've done is anything less than super-cool though

I'd pick The Pernicious Enigma, but as Lizardtail mentioned all are good.

I listen to a lot of doom.

Epic/Trad: Candlemass, Solitude Aeturnus, Solstice, Isole, Reverend Bizarre, Orodruin, Trouble, Pentagram, etc.

Doom/Death: Katatonia, Disembowelment, Paradise Lost, etc.

Funeral: Mournful Congregation, Esoteric, Worship, Skepticism, Evoken, Shape of Despair, Heirophant, Monolithe, Tyranny, Wormphlegm, etc.

Drone: Khanate, Sunn O))), Black Boned Angel, Boris (fairly new at drone, I don't like some it very much.)
