uhm, one thing though: one reviewer had Nickelback in his.her(dunno who it was nor do i want to check it) top 10.

1)it's not metal, i don't even consider it as decent rock
2) even for them, it sucks from what i've heard from friends and from songs
3) why? why did you put them there? W-H-Y???

anyways, everyone has their own taste

happy 2006 everyone

Metal is subjective and I would say it ecompasses rock, or vice versa. I have Pro-Pain in my top 15 and they're metallic hardcore, what about System Of A Down? Not strictly metal. Nickelback aren't too much of a stretch. I'd have put Ani Difranco in my top 15 if I could have.

I'm all for being open minded... but Nickelback is bland radio ROCK. Nothing more, nothing less. SOAD is still metal.

Bland to YOU. I'd argue (and be correct) that at least 50% of Iron Maiden's and Judas Priest's material is ROCK! Yet you'd never complain about them being on this site.

Urgh...

This is news? I wrote that review months ago.

I'm not going to bother with the rant.

Even if I did like Nickelback, I don't think I would ever bring up that fact on a metal site, I just wouldn't.

Great job guys. This is put together very well, and overall I'm satisfied with the results. Metal Reviews > all other metal sites.

don't get me wrong, im a huge rock fan but this isn't rock..it's commercial pop bullcrap with a frontman who looks like a poodel that's beaten with a blunt object who makes songs to play in on ppl with weak emotions

Nickelback are an alternative rock band. I'm not a fan of this band, but they write damn good songs for that style of music. You don't like it, I don't like it, more than half the members here probably don't like it, but someone does and it's not out of place on the list.

If I had put Ani Difranco's Knuckledown on the list, I could see the argument, but not this one. Especially considering that NIN, Coheed & Cambria, Deep Purple, Bon Jovi, Place Vendome, Allen/Lande, The Darkness, King's X, Lana Lane, Pro-Pain, Clutch, Nightingale, and Billy Idol are included on one list or another. All of which should not be included if the same reasoning applies.

I guess the difference is that Nickelback released their album last year rather than halfway through the 80s. but I don't care.

personally I thought SYL - Alien was going to get heaps of insane praise and I'm happy to be wrong. teehee..

It's a great album, but SYL is mood music for me. Now, had Synchestra come out in 2005 you'd have read a 14 paragraph orgasm from me!

They couldn't write a song too save their lives (and I doubt they do anyways).......Christ man, take the worst elements of Styx, Journey, Kansas, Seger, Reo and other 80's staple AOR and you get Nickleback which is just the 2005 version of that same crap. I am all for diversity, but blatant BS like "Nickleback write a good song" just has to be debunked. I like this place a lot because of diversity and fair shake to what is real Heavy Metal, but at Nickleback being song writers I just have to speak up.......jeez man.

Britney Spears has good songs, too. So does Christine Aguillera.

I should internet punch you in the ear for saying anything remotely bad about those bands (beside Nickleback, they suck).

I think I have to bring forth my stance that so do Dr. Dre and 2Pac, bless the gangstas soul. No, I mean seriously. Natural Born Killaz, Nuthin But A G-Thang, California Love...pure dynamite! Absolute diamonds especially compared to the utter horsecrap of 50 Cent and the ilk that pass for mainstream rap these days. bass lines, man, funkin basslines. P! Funk! Now if we only had that angry emoticon waving the OFFTOPIC-sign in here.....

And Kenny-dude, what say we try to one-up each other on this department? The completely-nonmetalsongs-thatrule-department. To see which one of us can get a harsher poser-flaming from the iivil-kvlt-section?

Yo punkass-hostankbooty has thusly been slapped with my diamond-encrusted, platinum-coated blingbling-chalice, BEEYYYAAAATCH! Yo mouth writez checkz but can yoo ass cash dem, homeboy?

"And now for the doctor...*SNIFF*"
