Count Raven - "Until Death Do Us Part"

Oh man, I hope this whole album doesn't sound like this. The singer sounds exactly like Ozzy, and I fucking hate Ozzy's voice.

Yeah, stay away. Dan Fondelius and Ozzy were seperated at birth. If I would have known you hated Ozzy's voice, I never would have recommended Count Raven. You might want to try Saint Vitus instead.

NP: Isole - Forevermore

I'm in the middle of digging through some of my dust collectors (cds I haven't listened to in months/years) to see if any of them are worth taking off the shelf, but I also just got Saint Vitus - Born Too Late downloaded. I've played the first three tracks, and I'm liking this much better than Count Raven. This guy’s voice is much better.

Yeah, Saint Vitus is definitely better. Heavier Than Thou is another kickass CD of theirs.

NP: Winter - Into Darkness/Eternal Frost

Sleep - Dopesmoker

There is nothing like waking up to some doom. It fits my mood perfectly.

np: Kayo Dot - Dowsing Anenome with Copper Tongue

after having heard this a few times I think it should go here, and as for genre, I'll dub it progressive postsludge because that sounds silly.

np: Jack Frost - Wannadie Songs

let's see if random downloading pays off again..

edit: nope, it's all production-y and radio rockish, with acoustic highlights on everything. mcfrown

Let's see....try:

Shape of Despair
Mournful Congregation
Skepticism
Monolithe
Nortt
Worship

That should get you started. Also, try Thergothon. I was never a real big fan, but seeing as they're the forefathers of the genre, check them out too.

NP: Electric Wizard - Come My Fanatics...

that's a good list of funeral doom. even if I've never gotten into Worship

np: Tarantula Hawk - (Untitled Sophomore Album)

these guys appear to be more cryptic and esoteric than, well Cryptic, or Esoteric. :P

edit: for the funeral doom list, try to find something by Wormphlegm or Tyranny too..
edittttt: haha, fifty minute tracks called "untitled" for the win
edittttttttttttttt: blah, the last half was just amp feedback

OK. Nortt is not for me. I honestly want to kill myself after hearing this. Everything about this is depressing. The only part I liked was the piano on "Dog og Borte."

The album I got also contained songs from Xasthur. I was actually suprised with what they had to offer. Very gritty and dark, but I found it much easier on the ears and rather enjoyable to listen to.

NP - Xasthur - A Curse for the Lifeless.
