Just got through listening to their new album The Dead World and found it pretty enjoyable. Anybody else listened to any of their other stuff?

They're OK, Devon has a great voice and can write good crescendo's but he needs more song variety.

Great band, great albums! 4-0 for me. "Regret" off of A Murder Of Crows is my favorite song by them, it's such a heavy, 70's prog-rock jam...it's awesome! I was disappointed in the new album, I have it in my top 5 disappointments of 2005. I still enjoy it very much, but it's mellower than their other albums, not what I expected. It's my least favorite of the four, but still it's a damn fine album.

Dark progressive rock... tiny bit of metal thrown in

Melodic progressive metal? I guess.

A FLIGHT ON ANGELS WINGS (Video)

This is a fairly mellow song, overall they're heavier than this, but this new album is generally pretty mellow like this.

Does anybody else think they kinda sound like Alice in Chains gone prog?
I've only heard the most recent album but it kinda reminded me of AIC.

Not really. They remind me more of a heavy, 70's prog version of Tool...sort of. Haha.

Here's some sample clips from The January Tree:

SIRENS
WINGS OF FAITH

They're really good, and all this talk is making me want to listen to them...but I'm at work. BAH!

I beg to differ. This is just the stuff I fall for! :D

God damn, I've got to stop procrastinating and get myself some of this.

Give these a try, NESS.

REMOVED

"Regret" is fucking awesome! Such a killer tune. Give these a try now, I'll delete them later tonight.

Me too, I hear a less pretentious, less dark/angry and less spiritual Tool with more straigh-up prog elements.

I like them for the most part, but they remind me to much of Tool. Regret was a killer track, but I can't find it on my computer now. Anyway, decent band. I'll be sure to recommend them to my buddy from Texas who is a die hard Tool fan. Thanks for the clips yo.

I think they're similarities are rather vague overall, the song "Stone By Stone" is probably the only one that really sounds like Tool.

I haven't heard much by Tool, but I've heard what people say is their best material, and it just doesn’t appeal to me. I like Dead Soul Tribe better, but they still remind me a lot of Tool, which makes them mediocre in my eyes (ears). I can see why people would like them though.
