Haaha, the rest of the people in the crowd found it hilarious. Why don't you ever go to gigs, zadster?

Lack of time, lack of money, lack of transport are the three main reasons. I'll get me arse into gear one day, maybe if (when?) Emperor roll into town. It'll have to be something special to mark he breaking of my Gig Virginity...

I have all 3 problems.
1.TIME-You have to turn up a bit late and have bleary eyes the next day, but it's worth it.
2.MONEY-I know this sounds bad, but just don't buy a cd some time, and buy a ticket instead!
3.TRANSPORT-With you living in a city the public transport should be efficient enough-that's what I use! But for the journey back (if the trains etc. don't run that late) you'll probably have to go with someone who can give you a lift back or something.

IE. You have no excuse!
Plus, if you wait for something special for your'e first gig, you might not appreciate it as much, as in you're not prepared for the heat and stench and assholes.

The city I be in at present (Newcastle, AKA Shitsville, the place is begging for a nuke or three), I know few non- uber Orthodox Jews, and they would be horrified at idea of taking me to gig.
OK, I won't wait for something that special, so we'll see. Maybe the next time I'm in Manchester........

Fear Factory, Soilwork, Strapping Young Lad and Darkane. Best show I've ever been to (which is not that wild a statement considering I've been to five, including last night). But I'll post evidence in Helheim strongly supporting my case of best ever.

I may not know who the hell they are, but whatever. Just don't see Megadeth as your first concert-the crowd was in agreement that it had the worst crush they'd ever been in, and I was stuck in it from Skin of my Teeth trough two more songs...uuurgh.

I saw Exodus lastnight...

SSS-fucking terrible opening band...really bad.

The Nothing-again, terrible-we had the treat of the guitarist playing to his amps.

Send More Paramedics-HELL YEAH! Very, very good. The vocalist went for a run through the crowd, incited a cool pit and they were really lively and funny onstage.

Exodus-really good, Bostaph played those drums like a madman and the new vocalist Rob had a really good stage presence.

Overall a good night...it was a shame that there was only about 300 people present but whatever. I met Rob Dukes, Jack Gibson and Gary Holt along with the vocalist of Send More Paramedics, all cool guys. The only real letdown was the fact that (jokingly, the bastard) Rob said he would dedicate War is my Sheperd to me and my friend Gaz.

Songs I can remember in no order:
War is my Sheperd
Pirahna
Scar Spangled Banner
Bonded by Blood
A lesson in Violence
And Then There Were None
I Am Abomination
.44 Magnum Opus

This weekend I went to the Arnhem Metal Meeting in Arnhem.
It's the second time this festival took place.

When I entered the Musis Sacrum (The building where it all happened) Volbeat and Callensih Circle where just finished. I was late because of train delays caused by the snowfall.

First, I went to see Fluisterwoud (wich is Dutch for Forest of Whispers ). It's a Dutch Black Metal band. First of all, there where far too much lights on. When I saw the terrible corpspainted faces and listened to the monotone sound, I decided to have a look how Mercenary performed. I'm not a fan of there musicstyle, but for the kind of music, it was okay.

Then, Ensiferum was on! A great show, with great songs. Perfectly balanced sound. An excelent performance! Viking metal.
After that, I went to see Enslaved. The inventors of Viking Death metal. I'm not a big fan of em, but the show was realy great.

Following, was th gig of Dismember. I don't realy like the music they play, but it sure was a great show. Pretty rough mosh-pitt!
After that Grave was playing. I'm a big fan of this Swedish Death metal band, but their show realy sucked. I decided to go to see Officium Triste, wich is a Doom metal band from Rotterdam (Netherlands) Theire slow doom metal gave me the time to rest en prepare for Candlemass.

The Candlemass show was excelent. The singer kept inpressing me with his voice and the music was perfectly played. An excelent performance.

Then, the time had come to see the band why I went to Arnhem. Thyrfing! At the beginnning of the show I felt something wet coming from the sky, which later appeared to be blood. And I'm not talking about fake-blood...The gig was absolutely great. They played a lot of my favourite songs. Afterwards I shook hands with the band and told them how great they where.

Sadly, I had to miss the Destruction show, because my last train was about to depart. I had to run back to the station through the snow and was just in time to catch my last train.

What a show!

I just went to the best fucking gig ever. Korpiklaani, preceded by local group Lemuria (whose members I know).

Lemuria performed pretty well, with first three songs of their debut album, then a Thyrfing and an Ancient Rites cover, then two more songs of their own.

Korpiklaani really rocked, though. I'm shamed to say I didn't really know their music before tonight, and well... what an introduction to me. Perfect atmosphere in the little local concert hall (which is more of a small barn), everyone moving to the rough hummpa tunes, excellent performance with almost no mistakes... Really, if they ever do a gig in your area, don't fucking hesitate!

Children of Bodom, Trivium and Amon Amarth.
Amon Amarth owned everyone, Trivium wasn't as bad as I'd feared, and CoB seem to be turning into Soilwork (in the bad way).

Went and saw a bunch of bands i had never heard of last night. They were local or from the just over in California. The first bad was some hardcore band that sucked.

The Funeral Pyre is very good melodic death. They covered Slaughter of the Soul at the end of their set. Awesome band. I bought their album and it's very good.

Bound by Blasphemy was a pretty brutal death metal band. They played an ok set but the sound system wasn't that great and it kinda hurt that band. All in all not too shabby.

Light this city is a melodic death band. Pretty good and very energetic set.

Abigail Williams has an interesting sound. They kinda mix genres. Played a great set though. Very enertaining.

Too bad only about 4 people in England know who Blind Guardian are, hence why they'll never come here-and even if they did it's be a fucking one-off London show.

Hmm... last concert I went to was Opeth's in Houston with Pelican and some shitty opening band that I cannot remember for the life of me. All I remember is that the vocalist was hilariously aweful and my girlfriend and I still joke about it. Was a damn good show, though. Pelican is pretty boring onstage if you are looking to go crazy, but they were good to chill too and to just enjoy the music. Mikael is a pretty funny, cool guy and did a little death metal growl how-to thing that was fun. To top it all off there was a pretty damn good drum solo that lasted quite a few minutes. Great night.
