Well the poll is "Best Metal Opera"

depends how you define metal and how you define opera.

You should have added Genuis to the poll, I think there are some people here that appreciate it.

Yes I forgot them, I thought that I could edit the poll but I can't :?

Well I've never heard of those bands :?

they are not bands, they are actual operas which you should go see in the real opera.

Do you think he was really serious? How can one be so ignorant?I hope for him he was joking!

Anyway i agree with you,Puccini,Verdi and Rossini are quite underrated in the little world of heavy metal, but the best operas have to be found in the Mozart's or Wagner's catalogue:Don Giovanni,Le Nozze Di Figaro,The Magic Flute or Lohengrin,Parsifal,Tristan and Iseult, and of course the biggest opera ever(12 hours):The Tetralogy(the Ring of the Nibelungen).

Nah, Wagner is way too tedious, he is only for the most hardcore opera goers. Mozart is not bad, but not the best at operas.

As an honorable mention I'd like to...mention...the Trans-Siberian Orchestra albums. The Christmas albums may be more of a seasonal listen, but Beethoven's Last Night is fucking awesome.

You know, this poll hasn't got enough options! Hahaha.

Avantasia, with Aina in a close 2nd.. Ive actually only heard 2 Ayreon songs, one with Dickinson on vocals and one I think with Fabio from Rhapsody.. Both songs were insanely tedious and boring..

I think Virgin Steele's "Invictus" could be counted as well... If so, that would win for me.

Agreed about Wagner(but i'm part of the hardcore fans). But for Mozart, actually he's considered very good in every genre, but opera is THE genre where he really felt "at home".

Actually italian opera is more "mainstream" than Wagner! To compare whith metal,i'd say Wagner is Maiden, and Verdi should be Bon Jovi!

I like it, but it just doesn't hold up to Avantasia IMO.

Although, "Flight of Torek" is better than any song on the two Avantasia albums, and "Silver Maiden" shows a different side to Kiske's voice.

The choices in the poll are abit weird, though I'm not sure it can be helped. Ayreon for instance is not a metal opera but a band. And Aina is abit disadvantaged compared to the other two as only one part has been released yet. But I think the Aina album holds up very well against any one of the Avantasia albums, even better perhaps.

pretty bad example, I think Iron Maiden is almost as mainstream (if not more) as Bon Jovi

I watched it with my girlfriend, and I never once saw Tobi. And I do remember that part in the movie. Winter just hates Edguy.

Edit - Horrible movie BTW
