np: Isis - Mosquito Control EP

I hate to be an elitist and name an EP as someone's best work, but.. yeah. I love the way Poison Eggs strings you along with constant drum fills as a substitute for heaviness and then that machinegun guitar comes in. asskickingly sludgy.

abyssus abyssum invocat by Funerary Dirge.

Just dloaded the demo from their site. Pretty crappy funeral doom. But funeral doom nonetheless so it can't be all bad :D

Novembers Doom - To Welcome the Fade

Man, these guys really sound like Winter at times. Good stuff, though.

this is fantastic. really avant and undescribable. it's on hydra head so it goes in the doom thread, but I can't really work out what this is, apart from mindblowing

I think with all of Lizardtail's reviews I'll be good for a while, unless you have a “must have” album I should check out.

You are correct, the good doom reviews are a rollin' in! Thanks, lizardtail, two more good ones this week.

MetalNESS, you seem to like the traditional doom sound with clean vocals ala Black Sabbath and Candlemass. I'd say go with Count Raven - Destruction of the Void. Also, Sleep have two must haves, Dopesmoker and Sleep's Holy Mountain.

Not necessarily, I like Katatonia's Brave Murder Day a loooooooooooooooooooooot. Any recommendations for something in that nature.

Ah, there are many good doomdeath releases out there. Try Mar de Grises, old My Dying Bride, Novembers Doom, Celestial Season, diSEMBOWELMENT, Winter, or Mourning Beloveth. Lizardtail can probably add some that I forgot. If you're really feeling frisky, try some funeral doom like Shape of Despair or Mournful Congregation.

Oh, and to amend my last post (and so Eyesore doesn't have to come in here and plug them), Solitude Aeturnus are another kickass band in the vein of Candlemass.
