Did anybody listen to this live recording of one of the Anthrax reunion shows with Joey Belladonna (or, better yet, actually see one of the shows) from last summer?

I listened to it a few weeks ago. And since nobody here reviewed or even brought it up, I thought I'd post my thoughts.

Here's the deal:

*Belladonna can't hit those high notes anymore. He's gotten too old and his voice too deep. So his whole selling point is basically gone now.

*The band decided to keep the downtuning - which is a good thing IMO but it makes the songs sound too much like they did on The Greater Of Two Evils. Again, a good thing but a little progression never hurts especially if you put out two "live albums" one after the other (Greater of Two Evils was recorded "live in the studio").

*Belladonna tries to sound really tough and venomous when he's communicating with the audience. It's a little odd hearing him do this being that Anthrax's music isn't exactly evil/nasty (they were probably the softest and most ethical of the "Big-Four" thrash bands in the eighties).

*Time really doesn't sound as good in this performance as it did on the original Persistence of Time album

*Overall, it sounds like a decent but rather disappointing attempt by the band at regaining lost momentum.

Honestly I liked John Bush better. Even so, I'd like to hear this(sorta) as they never put out a proper live album with Belladonna. Live the Island Years sucked balls. I honestly don't even know why they did it, I doubt they are drawing that much bigger crowds by having the "Original" line-up. What you say doesn't surprise me though, as Joey hadn't been singing full time for a few years now. "Music of Mass Destruction" works just fine for me.

They really seem to be turning into cash cows. We've had The Greater Of Two Evils, then the Best of the 80s, now the Live version...what next? They were doing fine with their new album, didn't need to fuck things up with this reunion tour bullshit.
