Agressive yes, heavy metal no.
Painkiller is not overrated. You can't overrate masterpieces.

Coming back to the topic, how come nobody mentioned Defenders Of The Faith. I think that's pretty good too. It has Jawbreaker, Free Wheel Burning, Rock Hard, Ride Free, Night Comes Down and of course who can forget, the classic Sentinel. There you have it, 6 tracks, (except Free Wheel Burning which is not as good as the others listed, but still a good track) out of 10 and the others are good too, just not as good as the above mentioned ones.

Hey, Alan Moore played drums on Sad Wings...!! The guy's a great graphic-novellist.

I agree. Completely awesome album (probably my third favourite Priest). Those six songs are amazing, and the others are quite good as well.

Yes, actually for someone who got into Priest with Painkiller, the next album I'd recomend is Defenders. I think it's a better chance he'll enjoy that more than SWOD or Stained Class. I did.

Yeah that would be a good choice but Screaming For Vengeance and Ram it Down are good choices too. god damn, Judas Priest rules and thats about it.

Here's a few more 'gems' from the Jugulator lyrics book

From Jugulator:
Quote:
Jugulator killing time now
Reaches in and rips your spine out

Violator
Big mistake Mutilate

Vindicator
Rib cage break

From Brain Dead:
Quote:
I can't blink my eye or cry
Or even speak
They crowd around my bed
Condescending words are said
Thinking I don't hear or know
What is going on - Hello!
Can't you suckers hear my cries
From inside I'm still alive
It's my decision to abort
Turn off the goddamn life support

From Decapitate:
Quote:
Your head
You will lose it

Severed
When executed

You always thought
You'd never get caught

Decapitate
Sealing your fate

Poetry, Mr Tipton.

Quote:
9. Bullet Train

[Tipton/Downing]

Sunrise showing every flaw
Paying for the night before
Dark eyes, scanning every vein
Exploding - cannot stand the strain

With each new mile
They death defy me
Standing on trial
Scrutinize me

And questionize my

Strong denial

Bullet bullet train
Piercing through my brain

Windows illuminating stains
Breakdown closing in again
Freefall as I close my eyes
Voices talking many lies

Changing my course
Blurred and scorched
Breathing exhaust
As we distort

By gravity

Of such G-force

Bullet bullet train
Piercing through my brain

Breakdown close my eyes
Voices talking many lies
Stained glass bursting in
Shattering my world again
Freefall but never can
Ever reach the ground again
Dark eyes scanning in
Feel my mind explode within

Wanting much more
I implore you
Near to death's door
To ignore

The screams of all

Who fall before

Bullet bullet train
Piercing through my brain

Bullet

Quote:
6. Burn In Hell

[Tipton/Downing]

Speak to me
Of those days I won't forget
Your worst dreams
Has just returned - to pay you back
I'm still laughing
There's not much else I can do
But one's thing's certain
I'm coming back for you

Have you got a gun
Do you remember well
Who you used it on
It's time to burn in hell

Say my name
I can hear you whisper
Not to blame?
You are going to blister
Scream in the night
I've been counting the days
It's so amusing
To see you again

Have you got a gun
Do you remember well
Who d'ya use it on
You're going to burn in hell

Die
Why?
Time to pay the price

Kill
I will
Have my sacrifice

Plead
With fear
I am getting near

Friend
Liar
Time to eat some fire

Have you got a gun
Do you remember well
Who d'ya use it on
You're going to burn in hell

Burn in hell
Burn in hell

Have you got a gun
Do you remember well
Who d'ya use it on
You're going to burn in hell

Burn in hell
Burn in hell

Snarl like a dog
You'll scream like a banshee
Stuck like a hog
You're gonna love me

Burn in hell
I can hear you whisper
Burn in hell
You are going to blister
Burn in hell
Screaming like a banshee
Burn in hell
Burn

Living After Midnight

Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone

I took the city 'bout one A.M, loaded, loaded
I'm all geared up to score again, loaded, loaded
I come alive in the neon light
That's when I make my moves right

Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone

Got gleaming chrome, reflecting steel, loaded, loaded
Ready to take on every deal, loaded, loaded
My pulse is racing, I'm hot to take
This motor's revved up, fit to break

Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone

I'm aiming for ya
I'm gonna floor ya
My body's coming
All night long

The air's electric, sparkin' power, loaded, loaded
I'm getting hotter by the hour, loaded, loaded
I set my sights and then home in
The joint starts flying when I begin

Living after midnight, rockin' to the dawn
Lovin' 'til the morning, then I'm gone, I'm gone

or

Quote:
1. Painkiller

[Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford & K.K. Downing]

Faster than a bullet
Terrifying scream
Enraged and full of anger
He's half man and half machine

Rides the Metal Monster
Breathing smoke and fire
Closing in with vengeance soaring high

He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller

Planets devastated
Mankind's on its knees
A saviour comes from out the skies
In answer to their pleas

Through boiling clouds of thunder
Blasting bolts fo steel
Evils going under deadly wheels

He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller

Faster than a lazer bullet
Louder than an atom bomb
Chromium plated boiling metal
Brighter than a thousand suns

Flying high on rapture
Stronger free and brave
Nevermore encaptured
They've been brought back from the grave

With mankind ressurrected
Forever to survive
Returns from Armageddon to the skies

He is the Painkiller
This is the Painkiller
Wings of steel Painkiller
Deadly wheels Painkiller

The lyrics on Jugulator are lot more meaningful and thoughtful than their usual giberish.

Anyone who listens to Judas Priest for their lyrics is in need of serious help. And if we are going to debate which Priest album had the best lyrics, it would undoubtedly be Stained Class, followed by Sad Wings of Destiny.

Agree. Priest's lyrics weren't anything to write home about, yet they weren't overly bad. I would say Demolition did have a few tracks with strong lyrics. Have to build up my Priest collection though. Planning to pick up Killing Machine, British Steel and Screaming For Vengeance. Many say Point Of Entry was Priest's weakest album. Thinking about picking up that too. What's bad about Point Of Entry?

A lot, actually. There are two good songs, but besides that, the riffs suck, the production is shit, etc...

Can you go more than two posts without being an abrasive fuckwad?

Just a query. Simple query.

A couple of turds like Troubleshooter, and the production was kind of weak.

Absolutely love Point of Entry, it's really a criminally underrated release. "Troubleshooter" is actually one of my favorites on there, but they're all complete winners to me. Just not nearly as heavy as what came directly before and after, but the songwriting is excellent.
