Post subject: EyeTUNES Vol. 3: Born Like This

Here's some music from the almighty Eyesore! Almighty? :D It sounded cool...for a second. I will start posting some of my music here in this forum. I will post anything and everything I've done, as I've mentioned before I have recorded 5 rap songs in my life, expect some of those tracks to appear here at some point, all for a good laugh (by the way, the "constructive criticism" rule won't apply to those songs)! :D

How about this one for now:

SHE CRIES - DAM (Vol. 1 MP3 taken down, PM me if interested in it)

Please save and download, don't stream this file, or I'll have to put it on Yousendit, or Cocksuckits, or whatever.

She Cries is an ongoing project of mine for some of the more mellow music I've written. The name comes from a poem I wrote (see below) many, many years ago. This song happens to be a cover of a System Of A Down song from their first demo. It sounds very different from the original, but the structure and tempo is pretty much the same. I added some vocals effects and background noises, and changed the "everyone is sleeping" line to "everyone was sleeping." That was actually a mistake, but...whatever! Hahaha. Anyway, I've always like this song, one of my favorite System Of A Down songs, too. Enjoy, or not.

The poem the name came from:

SHE CRIES

She came unto me in the night
Her body seemed to move with the mist
Swirling at my window
She floated through my mind and close to my skin
Leaving sweet beads of hope filled sweat
Then she was gone

That night I spoke a dream aloud
"There is a reason we awake from the bitter darkness"

I said it was old, damn! :(

I like it! Very ambient-y and atmospheric, reminds me of A Perfect Circle. Do you have any CDs out? :P Or is this it? Because I'm sure if you sent some of this stuff into a decent radio station they'd play it, leading to a record deal (which would be good). Do you have many songs like this, enough for a demo?

As for the song, a second listen reveals the only thing wrong really - the ending is a bit abrupt. It would make an excellent intro, however.

The ending is abrupt? Elaborate! =)

And yes, I have some other demos from this project that are very similar. Unfortunately they're all on zip disks and whatnot. I can try and extract some. I'm not sure how well this type of thing would go over on the radio, too mellow I would say.

Maybe I'm being too cynical, though. I've actually had people listen to the rap songs I've done and tell me I should try and get a record deal! Hahahaha! Me...a rapper? Hahaha. Hilarious.

I like it. I can see why you think it ends too abruptly, Zad, but it doesn't really bother me. I'd certainly play it on the radio.

Well, I also feel that Devin Townsend is weird.

Not that it bothers me really, as I said, I like it. Why not play it on your show, do you have an "unsigned" slot?

I can play whatever the hell I want (ah, the freedom of college radio :D) but I have to have a hard copy. It's still illegal to broadcast mp3s over the airwaves.

I'm sure Ken'd send you a copy if you asked nicely. Assuming you want to play it, that is. I know it's off topic, but what sort of stuff do you play?

Heh - I'm reluctant to take advantage of his good nature. He's already sending me stuff from his friend's band.
I play everything, as long as it's metal. I tend to be heavier on the more extreme metal side, because that's what I like the most, but I've done shows with mostly power and prog as well. I also tend to get a lot of requests for Crotchduster. "Mammal Sauce" is by far the most requested song in the history of my show.

That got rather boring rather quickly for me.

I remember you posting in Helheim about your show, but I couldn't listen to it because WinRar (or whatever it was) is blocked on this machine. Do you have a tracklisting up there, out of interest?

EDIT : OK, I'm an idiot, it works with Realplayer. Unfortuanately the library'll be closed at midnight tonight, so I can't hear you.

Pretty good. The vocals are off-key, the guitars were too repetative (I know that was the idea, but at least two riffs would be nice, or a second guitar or something to eventually add to the first one). Guitars also were a bit sloppy.

That's all I can think of. It's pretty good though, and definitely has potential.

The vocals are most definitely not off-key. Also, it's a cover and the original is very raw, the guitar playing is raw, not sloppy, there are no mistakes, no off-rhythm parts, which is what sloppy means. It was just a song I did for fun, I wasn't looking for a record deal.

As for playing it on the radio, I don't think it's that type of song. Let me post an instrumental I'm working on, it's my friends song, but I'm adding vocals. It's a killer tune. I'll post that next week.

Hahahahaha....Just kidding.
Seriously, sounds good. In all honesty, the sound quality is a lot better than many demos we've received! Did you play it with one hand? :D

Well, I'm a vocalist. I know. They're not off-key.
