I listened...and it is quite Nu metalist. I'm sorry Eyesore, but it is...I even thought there were some nu-ish elements on Clayman.

Nu-metal is derived from metal, is it not? I can go back to early Sepultura albums and find "nu-ish elements." That shit has always been there in metal music, but ever since someone "invented" this genre of music it's blindly thrown at too many bands.

Nu-metal bands are bands like Disturbed, Spineshank, Ultraspank (great name, by the way), Coal Chamber, etc. To me, those are TRUE nu-metal bands. They all have a consistent musical similarity. In Flames does not share that consistent similarity. "Nu-ish elements" has no significance because I can go back and find that shit on albums that came out 20 years before nu-metal became the latest scapegoat for bands that have strayed from their roots.

Early Sepultura having nu-ish elements ? I'm curious, could you point it out to me ? Morbid Visions is one of my fav deathrash albums.

Well even Colony is full of wimpy riffs. Nu metal or not.

My comment wasn't to point out specifics, really, I just picked a random band to make a general point, but if this album is nu-metal then Chaos AD is, as well.

Chaos AD is indeed nu metal, and their first step to that full blown direction, Roots is the final nail in the coffin. imo

I like Dead End too. The female singing is nice.

WOW, I'll actually admit to liking this a little. Anders clean vocals are so bad, yet I have a strange liking to them. It doesn't make sense, at all.

whatever.

Man, this is such a pathetic excuse of an album.

Such completely boring streamlined, near-commercialized "metal" i haven't heard in a long time.

I also like his clean vocals, which is odd because he reminds me of a cross between Jonathon Davis from Korn and Geddy Lee from Rush, and I despise Geddy Lee's vocals! It's weird.

Man the riffs in this album are soo goddamn monotonous... I have to admit that it is pretty catchy and i guess a little bit better than Soundtrack..

Anders' clean vocals have always been terrible until now. He's still not a fabulous singer by any stretch (but much improved), but he makes his style work very well on this album.

Man, it's nu-metal. I blame nu-metal, in part, on Chaos AD. Then some on Roots, some on Faith No More, some on Fear Factory, and some on Helmet.

But Chaos AD is there.

Yeah, his singing on leeches is pretty good.

i don't give a fuck about what someone says. this is an excellent album. it's not their best, but it's 78 times better than the Soundtrack To Escape From, and it's even better than Reroute to Remain - which was a good album. It has melody, guitar leads and solos, cool choruses. Reminds a lot of old In Flames.

Peace.

But Chaos AD is there.

Sepultura: 100% not nu-metal.
Helmet: 100% not nu-metal.
Fear Factory: 90% not nu-metal.
Faith No More: 100% not nu-metal.

Look, bro, I know you are young, but you can't change history. 1993 was the grunge era, how is Chaos AD nu-metal? How is Faith No More nu-metal when they released one album when nu-metal was big? How is Helmet nu-metal? I won't argue with you on Fear Factory. :D But seriously, you can argue all you want that these bands were nu-metal or contributed to it. The fact remains that they're not nu-metal.

Chaos AD: INFLUENCED nu-metal. MAJORLY.
Helmet: INFLUENCED nu-metal
Faith No More: INFLUENCED idiot nu-metallers who misinterpreted the direction of the album
Fear Factory: Well, you see where I'm coming from here.

Well, influence is irrelevant, right?
