This is an outstanding piece. Remains black/folky/death and keeps the symphonic elements floating around the background similar to that of Fairyland (power metal band). It has been very difficult for me to find this album. Has anyone else heard it? By far better than the new Thyrfing and Moonsorrow releases if you ask me. This is the direction those two bands should have pursued.

Fans of the following must check this out (Moonsorrow, Finntrollz, Kalmah, edge of sanity, and of course Ensiferium). I belive power metal fans would enjoy this; however no clean vocals so that could deter them. Vocals 80% black maybe 20% death.
I am pretty sure that most metal-heads in general will have something here they enjoy. They must be on a smaller lable cause this is rarely even listed on ebay? This could have made anyones lists if they had heard it . Is easily at the top of a viking lists with such minimal releases in that genre :( Was released Jan 05!

I must admit that more and more i'm getting into these folk/viking bands.I recently made a list from all the previous threads that you (the posters) discussed this matter. Now I systematically check each one and I must say i'm very impressed and it seems that I like almost everything (most likely because of my inexperience with this style).
Bands like Thyrfing, Wintersun, Battlelore, Ensiferum etc.

To return to the topic, this didn't sound as good as the aforementioned bands.Just to chaotic and incoherent and the vocals weren't that good either.I've heard only the samples on their site and only twice.I wasn't much impressed so should I at least download the whole thing ?

Hell no! Moonsorrow kicks the ass of this band 100 times and then some.

Who are you to say what Moonsorrow should do anyway? They're the kings of viking metal and they won't give the crown to this crappy cheese smelling power metal bitches.

yes, download. The samples do not show the flow of the songs. The parts that comeback, chrosuse, swings, etc..
Samples are def not enuff.
Of course there is cheese with the keys-laden synths, but I personally like the cheese very much.
Burzum true bms will be unsatisfied of course, but who cares really.

I listened once to new thryfing and Did not hear much Viking metal at all. It sounds like that have moved to Death metal with folk touches. Very dissapointed, but I will give it another spin :)

I love moonsorrow :). I only compared this to the latest moonsorrow ( verisakeet) which I deem to be extremely weak.
I do not fee this band is up to the level of those two greats (thyrfing and Moonsorrow); howver the new moonsorrow seem to be lacking in ideas and songwriting compared to the many other moonsorrow releases, and thyrfing (last two albums) have basically gone a totally different direction.
Remember, I am primarily a metal fan. Dont really care for death metal at all. So if you are going to start limiting the folk/black/epic parts then im not interested.

Moonsorrows latest handled the Epic, but lacked in songwriting (IMO)

Like I said, I will re-spin the Thyrfing (farsotstider) and give another opinion, but I remember ejecting it after 3/4ths listening cause I only heard boring repetitve death metal. Vansinnesvisor bored me and I thought it was much of the same stuff :)
