What are your five favorite instrumentals.

Mine in no particular order are

Blind Guardian - Weird Dreams
Blind Guardian - Beyond the Ice
Iron Maiden - Transylvania
Paradox - Castle in the Wind
Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick

Damn, this is a good question.

I'll have to think about this one for a while.

Excellent choices, my friend. Nice and obscure, but excellent nonetheless. So, off the top of my head I will add:

"Disintegrate" by Def Leppard (almost a companion to "Switch 625")

Dream Theater - Stream Of Consciousness

Well, that's the only one that pops in my head just this instant.

I've always liked a couple of these, which In Flames has pulled off: "Dialogue With The Stars" (first song I heard from them back in '97!) and "Man Made God". Never get bored of those, which can be the case with many instrumentals.

Ha, Helloween's "Red Socks And The Smell Of Trees" anyone? My fave band, but still..

Nobody's listing heavy metal ones so why should I...
Best ones for me: Candlemass - Into the unfathomed tower & those 3 or 4 beautiful acoustic ones from Tristitia's The last grief. Emperor's The wanderer is another good pick.
