I'll come right and say that I know virtually nothing of this band, so feel free to fill me in.

A few years ago Dwell Records (whores of the Tribute CD market) released a CD called Rebellion: A Tribute To Queensryche. I remember hearing the clips back then and thinking that the songs actually sounded excellent despite most tribute albums sucking it hard. This one seemed good. Anyway, I never picked up the CD because I could never find it. Well, last night on Soulseek I came across Ion Vein's cover of Queensryche's "Take Hold Of The Flame," so I downloaded it. This song blew me away! It is one of the best Queensryche covers I've ever heard! They nailed it. Further investigating showed me it was on that Rebellion: A Tribute To Queensryche CD. So to eBay I went and picked it up for $3 plus S&H.

Anyway, listening to the clips on their website impressed me quite a bit! An excellent melodic, AOR-tinged progressive power metal band with a definite Queensryche influence from...holy shit!...Illinois!! A killer US metal band?!?! Looks like they have two albums out and a new one on the way. Check 'em out and, as with Hamka, definitely check out the cover of "Take Hold Of The Flame" and be impressed (again, I'm hosting this file so get it quickly)!

Taken from Reigning Memories:

Ion Vein - Another Life
Ion Vein - Faith And Majesty
Ion Vein - Reigning Memories (Clip)
Ion Vein - Spiral Maze (Clip)

Taken from Rebellion: A Tribute To Queensryche:

Ion Vein - Take Hold Of The Flame (Removed)

Some good stuff there I like it they got a little hint of Symphony X in there as well..They sound better then what Queensryche is playing now.

Yeah, Queensryche are a rock band now. Decent, but not what they used to be. I just think this cover is excellent, the dude even nailed that piercing wail in the beginning. He even has a pretty convincing Geoff Tate sound, too. I'm definitely on the lookout for this band now.

OK, I think I have scored a copy of one of their albums. Awesome. I've been listening to these clips for a while now and they still kick ass! This band sounds like they're going to be excellent!! Do check them out if you haven't already!
