It's typically slower and a bit less "synth" sounding even though it has various folkish and ambient sections here and there and often between songs too (they just usually sound more natural here). For the most part, it sounds quite different from the earlier stuff, but it's pretty good . And despite the changes, songs on it like "I Feel the Breath of Ragnarok" and "The New Era of Swords" still sound obviously Noktunal Mortum.

It's also extremely long - llike 77 minutes. I'd say if you significantly prefer their stuff before "To the Gates..." you may not like this quite as much as you would if you liked their more recent outings. But that's just a guess.

I've occasionally heard it compared to newer Graveland and such, but I'm only familiar with Graveland's earlier material so I can't really comment there...
