I understand personal taste. But there is still bad singing and good singing. There are good singers that I don't like at all, but I would never list them as my top 5 most hated. I just think if you're choosing only five vocalists that are terrible, they'd atleast be people who can't stay on key.

Eh.

My complaint with him is interchangeable with all 9603000 of these interchangeable metalcore vocalists anyway. Put any one of them in his place, and there're my most hated.

I still hate his singing anyway.

Between the Buried and Me isn't metalcore, and he has a very unique sound.

I never said that Between the Buried and Me was metalcore. They're some weird blend of extreme metal and hardcore with some unidentifiable tendencies.

In retrospect, I shouldn't have used the word 'these,' instead substituting 'those.'

Pardon me for entering a personal feud, but it seems rather pointless to argue about how good/bad a certain singer or musician is. This pointlessness is compounded when the argument occurs between a musician and a non-musician. Musicians judge music on completely different set of criteria than music fans. As a guitarist I have spent many hours arguing about who is better, and no one EVER wins. Usually these arguments consist of some fanboy screaming at me about how Kerry King is a better guitarist than John Petrucci, based on the enlightened criteria that Petrucci is a "poser fag" and his fans don't even have tattoos over 30% of their body. My advice (and I know it wasn't asked for, so don't be a dick about me giving it) is simply to stay away from these types of debates.

On another note, why is someone who uses his or her knowledge of musical theory in a musical argument automatically labeled an "arrogant jerk"? This seems odd to me, especially when the argument is about the quality of an artist's musical performance. If the argument is about who is the BEST or WORST, not who is your personal favorite, then it seems to me that musical knowledge is more than acceptable in the argument. What is more arrogant, a person using their musical ability to critique a bands performance, or someone with no musical knowledge making vast claims about who is a better musician based on their own personal taste (which I'm sure EVERYONE else shares). It sounds like "the pot calling the kettle black" to me.

Because:

A. I didn't ask for his opinion.
B. At the beginning of his post, he discounted any and all knowledge that I possess of his apparent area of expertise.
C. These above two things kinda add up, y'see.

If Jaden had been so kind as to word his response in a different manner, I wouldn't have been nearly as hostile.

1.Mike Patton (Faitn No More, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Tomahawk etc...) this guy can sing anything from Sinatra to Death Metal !
2.Joey Belladonna (just listen to one of the best thrash album ever.. Among the Living)
3.Old James Hetfield (from Kill 'em All to Load & Reload, I know many will disagree  , we all know St Anger is a pack of crap !)
4.Mark Osgueda (Death Angel) a great metal voice
5.Gus Chambers (Grip Inc) maybe not the best singer technically speaking, but he has the guts & belief in what he sings that makes off an average vocalist a great one :!:

It's the same thing as with Sean Killian from Vio-Lence. They are, technically, lousy vocalists. However, they have undeniable charisma and fit the bands perfectly. That's why they both landed on my list.

I respect that.. however, I never could understand why Mustaine never picked a vocalist to replace his "throat unabilities"... his voice always ruined Megadeth for me... except on the 1rst album, strangely...

Now I don't recall his name, but the singer from Toxik fucking blew me away - insane and amazingly pissed-sounding high pitched shrieks. Check out their World Circus album and see for yourself (by the way, it's totally worth it, not just for the vox, an underrated Thrash gem).

Worst vocalists? Well, for one, I fucking loathe Maniac. He was half-decent on Deathcrush, but since he joined the reformed Mayhem... oh man, where to start? From the Donald Duck puking his guts out garbage (he could be singing "lalala the sky is blue, the grass is green" for what you can understand, and nobody would notice), the out of key wannabe "operatic" moments (with mispronounced Latin quotes) or the endless preacher-on-crack spoken word lameness?

Bashing is fun

Dead Machine,

A. If you don't want to hear other's opinions, don't post your views in a public forum. When you make statements like the one you did, people will respond, so get over it.

B. You can’t insult someone’s favorite band and expect to have him or her react calmly. Whether it matters or not, we metalheads care about music too much to put up with what we view as slander. If it wasn’t Jaden who responded inappropriately to a statement in this thread, it would have been someone else (maybe even you).

C. My inquiry was not meant to apply only to the situation at hand (not everything is about you). I have heard people respond the way you did to musical arguments before, and people who bring their status as musicians into the equation are always labeled as "Arrogant Jerks," no matter what the situation is. I seriously doubt you would have responded politely, even if Jaden's post had been worded more respectful manner. People, including readers and reviewers at this site, ALWAYS seem to respond in a hostile manner to people who take musical arguments in a technical direction. This common occurrence was what I was commenting on, not just your situation. If technical accomplishments are not brought into arguments such as this, they become meaningless. You might as well be arguing whether chocolate or peanut butter is better.

It depens on how Mustaine uses his voice--sometimes he sounds terrible, and sometimes he sounds awesome. He is best when he does his snarls and growls.

HA HA HA you just got done calling me a poser on another forum and here you are answering my post with your list of the most tired out metal voices....that werent even that good back then and only one of them can be considered thrash. An Idiot and a poser.
Where's Keith Dean from Holy Terror? You've probably never heard of them. Where's Baloff....he was probably to extreme for you seeing as how you have Hetfield up there as a good vocalist. Explain that one to me without me losing interest. Where's Pete Wagner from the early Rage albums. You've got a lot of explaining to do for your choices.... I said thrash and many of you just put up any old shit head that you think rules because he sells a lot of albums. And Joey Belladona has no place on the best thrash vocalist list...because he sings like a girl. He's got no grit or balls and Paul Baloff would put him in a hot dog bun and eat his faggot ass. Try again.

you can also notice I didn't put any bad singer... just can't sse the point doin' this...

So I could also say that all French people are gay. And that your native gayness has migrated to Canada and soiled North American soil. Nice rebuttle pal way to show the guts that you Frenchies are known for.
