I'm not sure how many of you have heard this CD, but it came out in 2003 and it's excellent. I just took it out with me today, I haven't listened to it in a while and it was a great reminder of why this CD was in my top ten for 2003.

The only thing I disliked about the CD was some part of the drum programming, some of the fills seemed a bit unnatural, but I guess that is expected when using a drum machine. Small complaint, though. Other than that the CD kills, and it's pretty impressive that Matt Smith did everything! The lyrical content is Christian and some people may be turned off by that, I could care less, though. Great CD.

Samples:

Theocracy - Ichthus
Theocracy - The Serpent's Kiss
Theocracy - Mountain
Theocracy - Theocracy

Thoughts?

Yeah, Matt Smith is Theocracy, basically, but they have done shows in the past. I just checked their messageboard and apparently a new album is in the works. Schweet!

No the christian lyrics don't scare me because a.I listened to Stryper,Whitecross,Seventh Angel and a few other christian bands and b.my mother bestowed her christian beliefs onto me(and I thank her for that).

And I like what I hear thanks for the samples Eyesore.

Not bad. Speaking of white metal, have you guys ever listened to Final Axe? They re-released their Beyond Hell's Gate album on the greek Steel Legacy records, and it's in my oppinion the finest piece of Christian metal ever recorded. It's not like "lalala praise the lord", it's "Satan rot in hell" kinda attitude! Oh, and also Queensryche fans should check out Sacred Warrior's second album.

I voted miss, and I probably shouldn't have. I actually did enjoy Theocracy when I first heard them (him).

Did you just mess up my poll, dude? Great. Thanks.

And Christian music is called "white metal?" Hahaha! I've never heard that before.

A Hit for their (his) St. Anger tribute. For those of you who never heard it, download it (it should be floating around somewhere). It's fucking hilarious.

As for the rest of Theocracy's music, I'll have to listen to it before passing judgement.

Listened to it again so I'll rephrase... not bad at all!! Actually it's damn good!

All these Seattle based christian bands like Stryper or Sacred Warrior called themselves white metal! There are some great bands in the genre, I like their melodic sound! It was worth going to a Stryper concert and have a bible land on your head just to listen to it (yes, Stryper actually threw bibles at the audience!)!

LORD HAVE MERCY ON OUR HELL BENT FOR METAL SOULS :D

Trust me, I have tons of Christian music, though I don't much believe in God or anything of the sort. I just never heard that before. It's kind of funny. :D

And yes, this band is excellent. "The Serpents Kiss" is awesome, though the clip shows nothing but a solo. There are three songs over 11 minutes long on the CD, too.

They did a St. Anger tribute? What's that all about?

They haven't been a one-man band for a while now. It was just Matt Smith when that album was recorded, but I know there's at least a drummer and a bassist.

Haha same here! It's those funny times when you find yourself singing to the chorus of a totally "hallelujah" kind of song, and you're wondering what feels wrong about the picture :D

Do check out Final Axe, they are guaranteed to blow your head off!

Haha all their lyrics are bible references, but in the "I've been baptised in blood" and "Are you ready to meet your maker" kinda way! Trully a unique band, they have this edgy, Shok Paris kind of sound, but their songs are really catchy (in a good way of course).

I quite like Theocracy, which is kind of surprising for me, becuase I'm not really into happy powermetal. Theocracy was one of my favorite cds of 2003 for sure. The Serpents Kiss is an amazing song indeed. As well, the last minute of Twist of Fate blows me away everytime I hear it. Very uplifting music....

Anyways, I've found that St.Anger tribute, so if you guys what to hear it:

Hahahahahahahaha! Holy crap! I've actually heard that before! I didn't know Matt Smith did that? Hahaha. Hilarious. You can't download it, though. That sucks.

There's a new song clip at the end of this. Matt Smith posted it on the Theocracy messageboard saying this is why the new album is taking so long, it's like a blooper reel. Kind of funny, new clip sounds good.
