having never seen a black metal band live, what is a show like? I've heard about things like Impaled Nazarene throwing maggots and shit into the crowd at their early shows, and Mayhem cutting themselves and having heaps of pig's heads near the stage.
Also, what's the atmosphere like at a black metal gig? Is it completely chaotic and out of control or is it just moody and depressing?

btw the only metal band I've seen live is Frankenbok. Damn 18-only regulations!

I've never seen a Black Metal gig either...
But from what I've seen of concert footage on the net etc. they seem very normal:

This was made for dvd and it's not likely they will have crucified chicks on the stage again but I'm sure it will be far from normal.

The best gigs where I have been have all been 18+... yep. You can walk anywhere with your beer. Wich is sweet. Beer ist krieg.
