Is it any good? How does it compare to "The Arrival"?

I haven't heard "The Arrival" but "Virus" is very, very good. I love melodeath, so I'm a bit biased, of course, but it's good.

[shameless plug]If you'd like to hear some of it and judge for yourself, tune in to my radio show. We've got it in the station.[/shameless plug]

Virus is the most brutal and fast Hypocrisy album to date, and I love it for that. Overall a great album and it really shows that Peter Tägtgren has gotten some new influences from Bloodbath.

It's a fucking killer album! I only got to listen to it a few times before I returned it because on tracks 6 through 8 there was this quiet flickering sound. Turns out it was defective, a huge shipment of them were defective, I should never have been sold the thing. Pisses me off because of course they don't have any new, non-defective ones, and when they do get them in I doubt the CD/DVD will be $9.99 again.

Anyway, you guys should check your copies, make sure it's not defective, too.

Real good stuff. Lots of tremolo black-metalish riffing, most extreme Hypocrisy by far. Peter's vocals are great.

I say to pick it up.

I love this album. I like it better than Arrival and that was a good one too.

I hate the fact that it is so short. It clocks in at just over a half hour. Please tell me that they are capable of writting more material than that.

Otherwise, I'm really digging every song.

Are you sure man? I haven't timed it yet but according to AMG it clocks in at just under 45 minutes. Either way, if it kicks ass, I don't usually care all that much if its short.

never heard Hypocrisy b4 'the virus' then i heard an excellent track on late-night radio and loved it. Now I'm usually a detractor of death, but this was really good melodeath, heavy, fast and nothing like the 'core chugchugchug ROOFROOF that's doing the rounds today.

I have heard a couple tracks and they didn't impress me very much compared to albums like 4th Dimension, Abducted and S/T. I guess I will get it anyway.

Or it would have been if not for the sudden rush of awesome releases... oh well. Maybe next week, 'cause you can't have two Album of the Month awards.

I'm pissed! They haven't gotten any new ones in around here yet! I should have ripped the defect tracks before returning it. :(
