I think there's a good chance they will release future albums. And in this case, I'm pretty sure those will be great. Regarding Prometheus, it's a great album as well, but I don't get into it that much, I really hope they'll do something different next time. Which they probably will.

I also believe that they will release a reunion album soon or later. This concert is a sign of it. And I'm sure it will kick ass. If there's a band in the world that will release a decent reunion album it is Emperor.

I think Emperor is overrated. There seem to be a broad consensus (with a few exceptions) that they are nearly perfect. I just don't understand it. They're okay but that's it. Moreover their discography was a steady slope downhill so I hope (for their own sake) they won't release another album. Reunions are rarely good and it is my guess that an Emperor reunion would be... [how should I put this??]... a failure.

Indeed. But Emperor, Wrath of the Tyrant & In the Nigthside Eclipse slay supreme.

They are good but not perfect. The keyboards on ITNE are way to loud and that scars the entire album which is a shame. WOTT is really good.

Very cool news.

I wouldn't rush to think they're going to do a new album, but I suppose it's possible. I kind of hope that they don't, but I guess if it's something they all decide they really want to do at some point, I can't really fault them for that even if it were to be a poor album.

And I also love "Promethius". Though I like "IX Equilibrium" a lot, it's probably my least favorite of their releases (if nothing else, the track order forever seals its fate as being my least favorite). The thing about "Promethius" is that it's not a black metal album; it's a prog / modern metal album of sorts with a wide range of influences. And if you're not into that, you're just not likely to find yourself getting into this album.

I think I would echo deathkvlt a lot though in what he's said about this band. "ITNE" and "Anthems" are probably my favorite albums ever along with both of Agalloch's full lengths. Nothing else that I've listened to (and that's a LOT) quite hits the mark for me like those do.

I really wish I could see those shows. :(

Agalloch best? Did you try out Klabautamann, Woods Of Ypres, Alcest and In The Woods?

I've listened to both full length releases from Woods of Ypres and don't care for them at all. I have heard of (and good things about) In the Woods, but I haven't gotten a chance to listen to them yet. The other two you mentioned I am unfamiliar with.

I listened to Prometheus again after reading what you wrote above and it changed the way I felt about the album. In that light I really enjoyed it for the first time. For some reason it made me think of post-Masquerade Arcturus.

Looking at the albums now, even though I really enjoy it, IX Equilibrium seems like the odd one out. I think Prometheus could have been the follow-up to Anthems... and I wouldn't have been as initially disappointed as when it followed IX Equilibrium.

Really would like to see what a new album would be like...

Forest Of Souls? Do you like it? It's a little bit too weird for my taste. Check out Dhaubgurz - Forest Of Souls, good stuff...

I liked it, very interesting and unorthodox. Never heard of Dhaubgurz, is this their demo?

I'll give it another try then, it was long ago that I last listened to it. Yes I think so...

:D I think had I not been listening to prog metal before black, I would have had to step back a little and try to look at it the same way to enjoy it also.

But I didn't exactly come into black metal through the bands (maybe even not for the same reasons) that I think a lot of people do either so... *shrugs*

Sadly, I'm from Indiana.

I don't see how anyone could argue that IX Equilbrium was better than Prometheus.
