My vote goes to "The Ritual." I don't care what the diehard fans say. I love that album. In fact, I actually kind of prefer Chuck Billy's more laid back approach to his vocals as they sound a little more natural than on later albums. Chaos AD would be in a VERY close second.

My vote would have gone to the Megadeth, until I saw the "Ban WiC!" option, which I just had to click on, for old time's sake.

Countdown To Extinction is a pretty good album, despite the smore commercial nature.

Sepultura, easily. The rest of those bands suck balls full time anyway.

edit: Er, apart from Testament. They don't suck balls. Sorry!

Very overrated, but still quite good. I haven't heard every album on the list, but of the ones I have Countdown still gets near the CD player the most.

Definately better than Youthanasia, from what I've heard of the latter.

Countdown to Extinction is a good album, even though the song structures are a bit more poppy and straightforward.

I don't see any sell-out album on your list... so my vote goes to Megadeth but for their "Risk" album (remastered edition) :P

I'll go for Countdown to Extinction. Nothing too good, but a nice, fun album.

In Flames - Clayman

It wasn't really a sell-out album, but rather a very excellent foreshadowing of their eventual selling out.

I voted for the "Sound of White Noise." I still love that album to this very day.No, it's not Thrash, but it is still a solid effort. John bush's voice with a still motivated (at the time) Anthrax, and lyrics that blatantly call out the poseurs of the world, fuck yes! The rest of the list plays out like this.......

2.Megadeth-Countdown to Extinction (still a solid effort from the classic Deth line-up.
3.Testament-The Ritual (could use less shitty ballads)
4.Ozzy-The Ultimate Sin (Jake E. Lee fucking rules)
5.Metallica-Metallica (sorry, but over a decade later it just doesn't hold up)
6.Sepultura-Chaos AD (big steaming pile of sludgy suck)
7.Slayer-Diabolus in Musica (well, at least it's not God Hate Us All)
8.N*FLAMEZ-Clayman (I've always hated this band)

The Black Album, Sound of White Noise as a close second. Neither of these albums are their respective band's best by any means, but they're not terrible either (see the rest of Metallica's catalogue for that...St. Anger my ass).

I had to go with Chaos A.D., but I was very tempted to go with the Sound of White Noise. Skullthrone pretty much explained why I like the Anthrax album, but I chose Chaos A.D. because, at the time, I really liked the tribal sound of it, and I still do to a degree.

Whether or not some of these albums are sellouts is debatable. I mean, why not put Divine Intervention for Slayer? Their sound on that album was not remarkably different from Diabolous. However, comparing Seasons and Divine Intervention is like night and day.

Yeah, The Ritual for me, too. I love that album! Very underrated! And it includes the best metal solo ever recorded! The solo on "Return To Serenity" is the best solo I've ever heard! It gives me goosebumps every single time I hear it!!
