I just got Unholy in the mail earlier, I didn't know they had a different fucking singer on the first two CDs! Hahaha. I just thought it was the same vocalist with a less refined voice! Hahaha.

Anyway, sentinelsteel.com has this album with the Japanese bonus track for $14. Good deal.

I have Second Twice, or Twice Second, whatever it's called, by Symphorce and I'm not very impressed. Same singer, right?

I actually thought that Tribuzy was pretty lame. Maybe it just needs a few more spins.

They are a really decent live band. On album they kind of tend to sound a bit flat in my mind, though. Safe and half assed... No spunk...

Brainstorm or Tribuzy? I don't know. I stand by my original statements that Brainstorm are on of the finest metal bands I've heard in a very long time! And they're consistent, too! Sure, I just picked up all their CDs but Hungry within that past couple of months, but it's clear they've been releasing quality music since Unholy.

Unholy is not amazing, but it's really good for a second offering. I'm not much impressed with more than about 6 or 7 songs on Hungry, though. After Unholy, though, quality! Every album kicks ass.

Works for me!! :D

Too much bass and vocals with little range make them a bit boring for me, it is really hard listening to a whole album of Brainstorm or Symphorce.

Little range? I do agree that most songs are sung in the mid-range, but that's what fits. Andy is quite capable of kicking it up a few notches, though, when necessary.

Man, you know, this band is still kicking my ass. They've been a constant in my stereo at home/while driving or at work since I first heard them about 10 months ago, or so.

They will go down as one of my all time favorite metal bands!

Killer band! Last year's Liquid Monster is a very strong release but I prefer Metus Mortis & Soul Temptation.

Unholy is also very interesing. Hence you have a different vocalist there is sounds different. Isn't so melodic I guess. The son "Dog Days Coming Down" rocks!!! Unfotunately I haven't heard Hungry and Ambiguity. But I believe the second one kicks ass since it's recorded with Andy B.Frank.

If you like Andy's voice, check Symphorce. Good band. Less melodic, heavier...Good stuff. I recomend Sinctuary. Next albums are more it very modern sound which isn't something that I enjoy :)

Yes, I discovered Symphorce after Brainstorm. Well, actually, I owned Twice Second first, but when I listened to it I didn't like it much and set it aside in shelfcore status. After I found out Andy sang for them I gave it some more spins and I eventually found it to be really good. I also own Godspeed which I really like, but as with Twice Second it took a few spins to get used to it for some reason. The rest of the albums will come in time.

As for Brainstorm, you would like Ambiguity. It's a very solid release, on par with their others. Hungry is a solid debut, with some really great songs, but the production is pretty bad and some of the songs are just not very good. I still don't own it, seems to be fairly hard to find.

Have you ever heard the band Eternal Reign? They were a used bin surprise find. They play in the same style as Brainstorm—maybe with a little less power metal—but their singer sounds like a mix between Marcus Jürgens and Andy B. Frank! They're excellent! Check out this zip file:

ETERNAL REIGN

It contains five Eternal Reign songs, "Set The Sails," "Into My Hands," "Edge Of The World," "Light The Light" and "Nightstalker." All are killer songs. I recommend everyone to check them out if you like Brainstorm. They really kick ass.

I have both Metus Mortis and Soul Temptation and also had mixed feelings. They didnt spent much time in the CD player and havent listened to them for a while.
I am interested in Liquid Monster, but havent bothered to hear anything, mainly because of the mixed feelings i had with ST.

Anyone who has both ST and LM, can you tell me if there is a change in their style? Is LM better than ST or are they very similar?

Well. These albums are rather similar. Not so much differs them from each other. However, I prefer ST. The sound changed a bit. ST has thicker sound, more high tones I think...

I prefer Liquid Monster. It is maybe a little more immediate and also has a few symphonic bits and pieces.

Kick ass Brainstorm news! (I still love this band.) In March, Hungry and Unholy will be re-released as double CDs. One CD will have the original, the other will have the remastered release—not sure what the point of this is, though. Hungry will also contain their 5th Season demo, six tracks—Live In Shame, Kamikaze, Up From The Ashes, Blind, Reach For The Sky, Liar's Edge (Alt. Version).

Unholy will be the same deal, plus their Heart Of Hate demo that includes Heart Of Hate and Valley Of The Kings. It will also include the Japanese bonus track Up From The Ashes, as well as their Promo '96 demo which includes The Other Side and Suck My Energy.

Plus they'll have a brand new album out this year! Fuck yeah!
