Bah I didn't like sounding of the seventh trumpet, City of Evil and Waking the Fallen are on even grounds for me though

I really, really, hate to say this, but upon having heard 'Bat Country' for the umpeenth time last night, they aren't a bad band. The guitars are fast and technical, the drums sound a bit hollow but are technical enough, but - the vocals are shit. Really, if they:

1)dropped the pop-punky harmonies in the middle of each song, and
2)paid someone to write decent lyrics for them,

then they would be as great as people reckon them to be. But until they do...no-no.

But not alright enough for me!

And BTW, Admiral Freebee aren't bad, from the samples on their site. Which album should I get (if I decide to do so?).

Admiral freebee is one guy with guest musicians but i don't want to nag

His s/t is very good(brit pop meets pop rock with a few blues elements) and his second(Songs) is more electric guitar oriented. Choose the one who sounds best for you, they are both great

Excuse me if I'm wrong, but this band and album are a big steaming pile of monkey shit, right? A friend bought this album and said, 'It's not bad, check it out!', so I sceptically borrowed it from him.

One listen was all it took and here is the outcome. There are some technically sound (but oh so over done) riffs in there, but this whole experience just screams GOOD CHARLOTTE! GOOD CHARLOTTE! This is a band with the image of metal but clearly forged from Hitler's lost testicle (which, may I add, runs EMI records and is also the president of the USA) and therefore they palm off medicore boy-bandesque structure and lyrical bollocks with metal riffs.

If you're a teeny girl and this was your first metal experience-well done, you've been suckered in. At least this might lead you to better things but I recommend burning your copy of this, or you will be boring your future kids about how you were once metal and loved this band, and they'd probably know better and disown you. True story. As for my 'friend', dear oh dear...

They'd be a good band if they dropped the annoying as fuck whiny vocals. Other than that, completely agreed.

Btw, why not come into the rest of the forum as well? You seem an interesting chap an' all...

I agree totally. They really just suck and I cant understand why this isnt obvious. Even when they were trying to be an actual Metal Band years ago they sucked. I saw them play with Blind Guardian and Symphony X in NYC a few years back.. They opened the show. They were really terrible and didt fit in with the other bands or the crowd. I dont know why anybody that comes to this site would like them.

I am not going to pretend like I am an avenged sevenfold expert but i know they were touring with many metal bands around 4 years ago. That is when i saw that show i referred to. And while they dont sound just like Good Charlotte they have the spirit-or lack thereof- of Good Charlotte. They have the same agenda and the same basic fanbase. The secretary in my office has Avenged Sevenfold playing on her Myspace page for Christs sake. If you appeal to people with no musical taste you probably dont have much to offer. I think a lot of people hear a solo hear and there on the radio now and want to believe that metal is making an uprising with A7X. They are actually hurting metal by pretending to be metal.

Maybe you should smack the people here who claim that they're power metal.

This is a discussion that has lost meaning to me. I am with Radagast. A7X is laughable. I am new to the forums but i have been reading them for months. I think Stefan just likes to be contrary. The statement that A7X is the best PM of 05 doesnt even deserve a response. By the way, this giant bucket of feces i am eating right now is the best meal of 06.
